Lvl 9 Bash Barbarian

Ok, I'm building a lld Barbarian that will use a mastery and bash. First off, I cant decide which mastery to use, either axe or sword? Axe I could use Berserker, but Sword i could go with clegclaws. Which should i go with?

Also, what should its skill split be, i have all quests done in normal, so ill have 13 skill points, im thinking 9 Bash, and 4 Mastery. Or should there be a different split?

Heres the gear ill use, its in 2 sets, 1 for sword mastery, 1 for axe mastery.

AXE:
Weapon: Berserker
Shield: Pelta Lunata
Armor: Berserker
Helm: Berserker
Boots: Gorefoots
Gloves: Deaths
Belt: Deaths

SWORD:
Weapon: Clegclaws
Shield: Pelta Lunata
Armor: 3 Socketed Breast Plate (3 flawed ruby's)
Helm: 3 Socketed Mask (3 flawed ruby's)
Boots: Gorefoots
Gloves: Either deaths(for the set bonus) or clegclaws (for the set bonus of additional damage)
Belt: Deaths

What should I look for in the jewelry, AR and resis? Any help will be great.

Maybe it is just me, but neither for PvM or PvP can I see any reason to use Berserker's Hatchet.

The speed is non-special. The damage is forgettable. The full set bonii are puny (you already get the 50 Life by just wearing two parts).

Even a plain Cleglaw's Tooth without any other pieces of the set is far better than Berserker's Hatchet having better speed and a whopping 50% to Deadly Strike.

If you are mostly interested in raw damage you should perhaps give Civerb's Cudgel a look (mace mastery). Civerb's Cudgel does roughly double as much damage as Berserker's Hatchet and you don't really need anything else from the set.

As follows...
20 Skill points
9 Bash
9 Axe Mastery
1 Shout
1 Taunt (Prereq)

55 Stat points
Strength: 50 (+20)
Dexterity: 50 (+30)
Vitality: 30 (+5)
Energy: 10 (Base)

Items:
Helm: 3-Socket Mask (+14 to Maximum Damage Jewels)
Armor: 3-Socket Light/Breast Plate (+14 Maximum Damage Jewels)
Amulet: Rare Amulet with good attributes
Weapon: 6-Socket Military Pick (+14 to Maximum Damage Jewels)
Shield: Pelta Lunata (+14 to Maximum Damage Jewel)
Gloves: Death's Hand
Belt: Death's Guard
Rings: Nagelring/+90 AR Rare
Boots: Gorefoot

4x Grand Charm of Balance
Several +15 to life Large Charms (With second mods such as AR, mana, etc)
1x 1-2 Cold Damage Large Charm ("Legal" slow vs. some)
Several +3 to Strength or Dexterity Large Charms (For damage and AR)

Copied almost directly from my post at LLD101.

+14 Maximum Damage Jewels are Carbuncle Jewels of Wrath; both prefix and suffix. They are very hard to find, so you can stick with +9 to Maximum Damage Jewels. Watch out for level requirements!

That was actually on my clipboard the moment I clicked your link... Haha, what a coincidence...

just some small nits.. or amendments i guess i would call em

a cold lc really isnt important.
hitting 48% fhr is a sacrifice of 120 life (ouch!)

could try more def, 3 sig pieces (gloves + boots and belt* or hat) and gothic armor (or higher) since 1 shout will give u 100% raise. (hitting 800 to 900 def is good)

*you'll want 75% cold res and half freeze duration, most vlld's wont have more then 2 seconds cold wich would become 6 frames of chill duration.

a 95 ar ring (silver of light) is neat and all but a rare 80 AR +2dex and +2 str with cold res (and half freeze duration) would most likely be ideal

ammy with good stats is something like = +5 str +5dex, 12% damage to mana, half freeze duration and resitance (cold imo)

use all ur stats for your str and dex reqs.. if u must then use stats charms. a +3 stat lc is saving your barb 12 life.. but u could use a +15 life lc (maybe even with Mana AR or Res) instead

Oops...

Ok, I have a question. My barb is in hell, but hes lvl 9 and only in act 3, so no izzy or anya. I have all other quests done, so with my skills should i go 9 Bash, 1 Howl, 1 Shout, rest in axe mastery? thats what im thinking to do.

bash 9:
60% AR
90% dmg
2mana a hit
+9 dmg

Axe Mastery 9
68% dmg
92% ar
NO mana
16% critical (wich is like saying +16% final dmg, works AFTER the ed%)

since u might run of mana, bash will do u no good at that point. Mastery might be the choice 1st pump if u have enough +dmg jewels .

but ofcourse u should have 9 bash, 9 mastery 1 howl 1 shout. so get ur butt rushed to act 4 and get Izzzy!!!
