Some simple facts about Auto-aim

Since there are some concerns about the use of hack such as auto-aim in those "TOURNEY" threads, it would be informative for me to share a couple of simple ways about how you can tell if someone is using it. Feel free to share your learnings about this hack if you have any, so that it can make dueling better.

The two things I will post below is under these conditions: non-dialup connection, fast computer, and the dueling ground isn't contaminated by trap remains, vines

1. Vs a range attacker, try to keep yourself on the same minimap with your opponent at all time. If he/she is using auto-aim, you should see all the attacks going right at you when you are not on the same screen.

2. Vs characters that tele on top of you to attack, it's simple. If they tele on you from off screen, they use autoaim (unless they got a namelock on u when u were on the same screen sometimes earlier. but this is not a smart move on their part since they can't move or do anything if they want to keep that namelock). Some clever ones will try to tele on you from the edge off the screen and claim it on lag. So keep in mind that, with good connection/fast comp, you will always see their first teleport onto your screen.

There are ways to fight auto-aim users, but this is not the right thread, and I don't encourage anyone dueling an autoaim user.

technically most of the 1.1 AAers use "autohit" its a d2hackit mod, and it basicly is only good for druids.. seeing as bh wont hit unless your under the person.. it works for things like fb sorcs/necros, but alot of races can out tank them

Hammer will hit if you tele on top of your target. The surprise element of AA + the damage of BH make AA hammerdin the deadliest hack char in the game.

[color=White]Or they've name-locked you, I'm QUITE tired of being called a hacker in pubby games. Of course if they're moving around, that's another story. Of course, some people just have good aim...

Back in the day...... Well, back in .09 dueling, I dueled quite a bit with amazons, and had a pretty good shot, I got accused of using scroll locking a lot (I dont even have maphack... nevermind the scroll lock feature of it) Yeah, I dont duel very much in high level duels, but it seems to me, there are a select few situations where you can be sure they are using autoaim, but unless you are 100% sure, you probably should'nt accuse people, because there is a good chance they are just a good dueler.
Oh well, just my $.02

To Mep or Matt: If there is a trick of making a chain of bonespirits or guided arrows chasing people 2 screens away (without having to see them first on your screen), please enlighten us.

Personally, I think that the char that is most powerful with AA is tele hammerdins (maybe wind druids and ww barbs). But you can easily tell when they use AA and tele on you from another screen.

I decided to add my two cents. As I get more practice with namelocking and timing the namelock-tele the accusations of me using aa has risen. I use a hammerdin and kill people by teleling on them. I just try and take it as a compliment. Consquently, it sometimes hurt people who use it because they teleling directly on a hammerdin which usually means death. As for missle characters, they are too busy trying to "shoot" you and end up stand still long enough to tele on them.

Actually, there is. Namelock, I know that its been mentioned, but it is true. If someone is running away, and you lock onto them and just hold down, the GA's or BS's WILL track them for a while. I dont high level duel anymore, but when I did, I did that quite a lot and got called a scroll locker for it, but i was not actually scrolling them, just click their char as they run away and hold down, works wonders.

i duel with mostly my ama and i get accused of using autoaim too.
i just use the mini map and shoot in the direction of the ppl. so after dueling for a while with my ama i can usually hit ppl from far away.

but what i noticed is that GA doesnt seek if u shoot from far away unless u namelock.
so if someone doesnt name lock u and their GA are seeking u from say 2 screen away, they r most likely using autoaime

I used to duel with my tele hammerdin alot too, and I never got a single accusation of using Auto-aim from strangers or friends. To most experience duelers with good connections, it is very easy to tell if your opponent uses autoaim to tele onto you. If they don't appear on your screen first before the tele onto you, they must be using auto-aim (unless you hit a lag spike).
