Revised Orb Sorc

Ok after my other one I got a lot of feedback and came up with this instead.

Max Ice Bolt
Max Cold Mastery
Max Frozen Orb
Max Telekenesis
Pre Reqs
1 into warmth
rest into energy shield

I should get about 75% with Energy Shield which is fine because I should have at least 1/4 as much life as mana.

Hoto or facet Occy(cta/sigons on switch)
Facet Viper armor
Facet lidless
double faceted 2 soc rare helm with sorc skills and fcr
rare 2 sorc skill ammy with fcr
mage fist
2 sojs
arachnid sash
waterwalks or marrow walks

k so now my question is how much should I put into energy and is there anything that Energy shield doesn't take the hit for? (Poison I think?)

if you plan on using lidless, you only need 105% fcr, so use frosts.. and use nightwings (20% dmg 2skills..)
and all your stats should go into vita not eng man, telek lets you do that.. youll take less then 1 dmg per 1 dmg into mana

I have to disagre with sniper wolf on the nrg thing, you are correct in putting all points into energy pretty much, good charms will be important though, because even with 75% es, you will still dake sizable damage from barbs, zons, and necros, and fireball/blizz will kill your es in no time, i guess if you arnt planning on getting more than 75% es, just try to have 3x mana as life, and you'll be fine. also as far as i know poison is the only thing es wont help you with.

i would leave energy shield at base 1... if you get energy shield too high lvl, ur mana is just going to get taken away way too fast... also, by doing this, you can put more skills into warmth and teleport (thats sort of a sorc secret... a lot of the top sorcs get tele down to about 5 to 8 mana cost so mana isnt lost at all when teleing @ 8 fps)

you should def change gloves/helm... u have 8 fps cast with hoto+arach+viper+lidless... or you could switch to verdungo's if u can get a +2 sorc/15+ cast ammy... very hard to get a legit one though... that would be 15 dr/40 vit/15 life replenish/10 fhr (you would be forced to add some str, but if you're going to switch to nightwings, it would be more than worth it... not like ur gonna have to add 40 str for it which the 40 vit balances + gives more mods)... for helm, u should switch to either shako or nightwing... both have their high points

you should leave energy at base 0!!!! just do str/dex for items and the rest to vit... thats just a "rule" of pvp builds... items/charms add plenty of mana! and since you're using BO,ur mana should be more than high enough... i dont even use cta on my orb sorc (i think its ***, but thats beside the point) and i dont have any mana problems... you should try to get 10x cold charms w/ life and 10x life/mana sc's (kinda hard to find anymore... 20/17 is perf if u dindt know anyway)... good charms are a huge help; 200 life, 170 mana in sc's alone; up to 450 in gc's (300-350 is more realistic... heh)

as far as i know, crushing blow, open wounds and +damage from astreons / redeemer are NOT affected by es
u REALLY have to beware of astreons/redeemer smiters

Besides that, pre-casting ES doesn't work.
In 1.09 at least, if you cast ES from an outside source without having any points in it and then lose those skill points, you won't actually get the damage converting effect, even though it shows the floating ball over your head.

I see no reason why this would have been changed in 1.10, so.

Edit : oh and also, my personal advice would be to get a fair amount of Mana. Mana is the source you thrive on, and if you don't have any or run out of it too fast, you can't make an effective dueler. The minimum for an Orb Sorc should be 1500, if you go beyond base ES, 1800+ is recommended.


I always played without CTA because I mainly played in private leagues and only take my character to public games when I'm bored or there are no league games up, and I consider CTA bad mannered because of the rules from where I play.
But with it you should have no problem getting that amount of Mana.

Once you have over 800 Orb damage, and you play in public Hell games, you shouldn't worry much about your damage. If people choose to absorb you, there's nothing you can't do about it with your cold spells, but if they don't have that kind of high Absorb, 8xx+ Orb damage is plenty.


Teleporting experience and practicing with aiming Orbs is the key, not a huge amount of damage or a massive Life pool, although both help of course.
Also, getting 8 FPC is by no means a necessity, 9 FPC is fast enough for alround play.
You Teleport a bit slower, but your damage will also be at least 20% higher, and you can enjoy the advantage of having full block which you might not if you go 8 FPC.

Playing experience, a good connection + computer, a steady Mana pool, damage, good items, is what makes a good Sorc in my opinion, and mostly in that order.

if you use +es item to use es insted of rasing it, the synergys won't work.. you need the base ES skill point.. and if he means prebuffing as using more + skill items, you alrdy have hoto/sojs/2skill helm/arach.. you only could get +2 more off ammy basicly..
