LVL 9 PvP Pally

Ok before i get way to far with this i would like some advice because this is my fist paladin, vlld.

SteelRainbow
Lvl 9 Sacadin

Gear:
Cleg Sword(clean so far, not sure what to socket it with, -15% req jewel? or max?)
Clegs gloves
death sash
27 max mask
27 max/8 life/11 ar eth breast plate
49% ed / 82 AR 4 socket superior rondache (trading for later, i'll fill with 8 and 9 max)

2 High AR Nagels
Rare +1 max/ar ammy (at a loss for what to do here)

A variation of 10-15 life LC (mostly ~13 or 14), a few strength and dex charms for cleg sword.

a) Ok, so this leave me needing advice on boots (any commonly used good ones? not going 13 for the ck boots)? and jewelry...could use advice on that.

b) Also, is it common practice to have vlld chars hell rushed for stats/skills/life q?

At lvl 9, with all quests in norm, i have 270 life with charms, and 11 stat points left after putting enough in for cleg sword. I was wondering how do i massively increase my life? because i feel like that if i go into a duel i am going to die in 1-2 hits against a sin or another sacadin. dmg right now without sheild is 500, so about 85 pvp dmg max.

c) should i have any skills besides sacrifice (lvl 9) and might (lvl 2 or 3)?

d) What can i do to get more life, increase dmg after i get sheild, and use less stat points to equip cleg sword?

thanks in advance.

Your build looks pretty solid for a first attempt. Cleglaw's gloves may be a no-no though. I'd switch them out for Death's Gloves, if only to appease the other VLLDers that might complain. Also, I'd start looking for rare rings with +80 AR and stats.

If you have enough points to use Cleglaw's Sword already, then go for a simple +9 max. In my case, I was lucky to find a +8/-15% requirements rare jewel, which saved me a few points. You have to remember the 50% DS on Cleglaw's Sword, which doubles that 85 PvP damage into 170.

To answer your questions:
a) Hsaru's Boots are decent enough to get by with. Otherwise a decent pair of rare boots. As for an amulet, I'd suggest finding a rare one with %damage goes to mana, AR, and stats.
b) Yes, it is common practice. Remember, getting the Golden Bird quest is much easier if you "forget" to do it on a higher level character and transfer the Bird over.
c) Setup sounds good, but if you full Hell-rush, you'll end up with +9 Might, +9 Sacrifice, with two points to spare for something like Prayer/Defiance/Smite. I wouldn't mind using Smite as a knockback attack.
d) Your gear setup is pretty minimalist, but you can get better rings/amulets and then socket Cleglaw's Sword with a -15% requirements jewel. It might end up saving about 14 stat points or 42 life. Remember though, every 15 life large charm you wear is already equivalent to +5 stat points spent outside of vitality. Also, you can get the stat quests and Golden Bird quests, which nets you 70 life.

Hope that helps.

you can bypass ancs, and get quest if someone else in the game needs it. so if they get quest, so do you, even if your in town.

I'd say that looks like a pretty solid build. I also would say toss the clegs gloves for deaths, 30% ias is VERY helpful on a sacadin. Other than that, try for a 5 str//AR ammy, maybe ditch the nagels because you can get magic rings with a bit more AR, but thats not crucial.

For boots, I's say go with hsarus or gorefoot, they are both about the same really, and unless you get some very nice rares, they are your best options, its the R/W that really makes them good, very helpful at level 9.

A hell rush helps, but its not 100% nessecary. I usually skip getting hell rushed, its more trouble than its worth, but if you can, go for a NM rush, its pretty fast/easy to get, and it will help out quite a bit, same with hell, if you can get it, by all means, go for it, but dont feel that you NEED a hell rush to make it work.

Good luck!

I believe the Hell rush is absolutely necessary. At least it is if you are going to compete with the "big boys". Do all the quest and get all the bonuses because otherwise you will always lose to someone who has done this. This is "cheap" adavantage that won't cost you Ist runes or Sojs to get. I don't do Pallys in VLLD but the advice they have offered you is solid. You have a good start in gear and room to continue to improve as you continue to trade or find stuff. Make sure that you equip some FHR. You can use Grand Charms or boots that provide it. Another good boot worth considering is Hotspurs. It gives you a nice life bonus. Cleg gloves are frowned upon in any dueling situation so Death with 30IAS or Bloodfist with 10IAS and 30FHR are a better choice. Continue to upgrade your charms until you have all 15s. Find a rare ammy with 5 strength or 5 Dex and 20 AR. You can gamble something like that from Gheeds if you are willing to use a couple million gold. Use a character lvl9-19 for best results in getting a usable ammy. Good luck.

Hi! I saw this thread and made a lvl 9 pk pally of my own! (im only up till normal btw)

He rocks!! I have NO max dam jewels tho.

I win lvl 20+ guys easily!! just smack smack smack die.

But the problem is that they eat potions and run back to town like little girls just before they die.

I so want to collect their ears!! But i cant seem to kill them in time.

I was thrashing up a lvl 23 sorc and a barb, one at a time. But they partied with another lvl 20+ barb and all came after me. Couldn't win this one of course haha. But i always ALMOST manage to kill the sorc, who will teleport away and eat potions......

They couldnt even kill me unless i got careless. 3 lvl 20+ char chasing a little lvl 9 paladin. They refused to do one on ones and just pked me and body guarded when i died. And that stupid sorc.... almost had her.... I WANT HER EAR!!!

(I lost fair and square to a lvl 28 hammerdin though. But it was a hairlined loss. Quite funny to see big characters lose to a level 9.)

Please give me some advice on how to kill them before they get away.

Im having great fun!

get hell rushes definitely. Why? +8skills +10stats +40 life +3imbues + hell hellforge. +8skills can really help especially, and you can usually get somebody to rush you for the hell hellforge if you don't have willing friends.

It's only technically +2 imbues ^^* and remember NM Hellforge can get you a decent rune as well.

As for getting an opponent before they run back to town, you can always have a throwing weapon on switch. Hit them in the back when they run away.

Doesn't a full rush give +12 to skills?
+1 Den of Evil
+1 Radament
+2 Izual
Total: 4
4*3=12

...

Anyways... Whenever someone runs, put them aside in your head; next time they die, have fun with their gold. Same goes for potting, especially. Otherwise, just laugh at how they already have a level advantage and still need to use potions/run.
