While trading will still exist without AH, it seems like an improvement though.
Maybe worth a poll, but I don't think you would find broad support for this idea. A proper purchase or trade is a satisfying event.

And how does finding items yourself differ from trading items you've found for items others have found? Besides the warm, fuzzy feeling.

Face it, unless there is a character reset at the beginning of the expansion; you\'ll have the worst auction house offenders running burning thru the expansion in an hour.

It\'s a lot like when the government regulates an activity. The ones who are grandfathered in quietly reap the rewards by preventing others from even entering the market. Even though they are punished a little bit; the barrier to entry is a lot higher now, there is less competition in the future. Which works for them.

So, when the expansion comes and items are traded manually - who are the ones blowing thru inferno level 70 with 3kajillion DPS and selling crap via trade? Yep; the ones who\'ve spent a ton of money at the AH prior to closure.

Pandora\'s Box is open; it\'s a bit too late to close it. Without a wipe.
From past experience with Blizzard expansion packs, loot 2.0 will effectively be a wipe. Loot 2.0 will be far superior to loot 1.0, that even the best 1.0 loot will be inferior to common 2.0 drops. The game will be balanced around the new 2.0 loot, and bearers of the best 1.0 loot will only have a very slight advantage in finding 2.0 upgrades.

This is how it worked in the Diablo2 and WoW expansions and I expect it to continue.
