Re: 50 years of Doctor Who

Looks like some have been found!

Over 100 long-lost Doctor Who episodes found by dedicated fans - in Ethiopia

The websites of the Radio Times magazine and the Daily Mirror newspaper in the UK have this evening published articles claiming that episodes of Doctor Who previously missing from the BBC's archives, starring Patrick Troughton as the Doctor and unseen in the UK since the 1960s, have been recovered and will be made available for sale in the UK via online download on Wednesday 9th October.

The Sunday People can exclusively reveal that 106 BBC programmes have been unearthed featuring the first two doctors

    Or Not?
Doctor Who News cannot confirm any episode recoveries, only that the Radio Times and the Mirror are reporting the news.

Re: 50 years of Doctor Who

I am not sure about 106 or even 100 episodes. The most I have heard is 94 episodes, with 89 or 90 being the most common number I have heard.

Now BBC News is in on the game:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24448063

Even as far away as Los Angeles has heard about it now.

    http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...,7511390.story

Some are saying that the BBC will announce 9 or 10 episodes that they will sell on iTunes. Then making some others available on DVD over the coming months. Some go as far as to say that the BBC will announce only 9 or 10 episodes this week and hold the others back. But that would only inflame fans who have been lied to and called names in Twitter and other places in the last several months.

There is quite the drama behind the scenes with so called uber-fans denying that episodes have been recovered and more. If anyone is interested in reading on the drama let me know and I can point you to the right places to feed on it.

For now, the announcement is set for Thursday in the UK. Great time to be a fan of Doctor Who! As long as we get all of the recovered episodes and some aren't held back by drama queens in the uber-fan ranks.

Re: 50 years of Doctor Who

BBC Press conference is today. There is an embargo on the news until midnight UK time. Wanna take bets on what time the first leak occurs?

There seems to be way more than Doctor Who having been found. Since overseas TV stations were visited by someone who knows people there (his business takes him to Africa and elsewhere to TV stations) and this has been going on since about 2005 this return of 60's television could the last large cache to be found of missing television.

Did you guys know that a complete tape of the first Superbowl is missing? So it's not confined to the BBC.

    And here it is:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/

http://www.cultbox.co.uk/news/headli...sodes-revealed Shows what the DVD covers will supposedly look like.

Both stories are available on iTunes exclusively for now. US iTunes links below if you're interested:

    Web of Fear

    Enemy of the World

According to the rest of the rumor and people still talking today, there are more episode recoveries to be announced. Not sure when. Possibly in time for the 50th in November. Or maybe into 2014. Over & out. Going to watch some old Doctor Who now!

EDIT: while I await the slow iTunes downloads, here is more media coverage:

Re: 50 years of Doctor Who

The LA Times one said [For the record, Oct. 8, 4:59 p.m.: A previous version of this post stated that 106 episodes of "Doctor Who" had been discovered. The exact number of episodes found has not been announced.]

What they have not counted them yet?

Re: 50 years of Doctor Who

I think many of them are not back at the BBC yet. They can't announce what they don't have. But many people claim they have been recovered. Like I said before, probably not 106, but maybe 80-90 total, which is amazing!

Re: 50 years of Doctor Who

They got some names wrong but good article. The Doctors companions RL names are Frazer and Deborah, not Patrick. That's the Doctors real name.

    waiting for the next announcement..............................
