First time player on Diablo 2 - Need help with assassin!

So i recently downloaded diablo 2 and I have found ti quite interesting. I will only play single player because I downloaded it but that doesn't matter. I really like the assassin she has a really unique play style. I just need help on which skills to put points in when I start a fresh character. I read lots of guides and they keep telling me to build my char in a way that it is ready for hell difficulty. For assassin I don't which finisher is good and whether cobra is better than tiger. Some people even say to max the phoenix one.

I am a complete noob so I don't know much about the game.

It ain't the easiest char to start with, u can play her in quite some different styles as u probably already know by reading the guides.
I bet u won't like your first trip in Hell, will be quite though with a pure martial arts build (since u mention only those skills).

Tiger strike combined with Dragon Tail works, but u won't like the Physical/Fire Immunities in Hell.
Cobra strike is only good for regaining some life/mana, u can get these on items also, so not that much use 2 it.
    Phoenix Strike is OKish only.

My first assi was something like this:

Do you think that a dual wielding barb is good for a first char then?

Barbarians are fun to start with, but they make funny sounds when they jump. *huphuphup*

Assassins are not easy. Shadow keeps wandering off to find a more interesting battle, like the difficult one you're already in isn't interesting enough for her. And then she dies and the other battle comes looking for you too....such fun.

I'm unsure if you found this site already, but it's wellorganised and useful. http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/

Also don't collect normal keys, an assassin doesn't need this. I'm saying this because for ages I carried them around and it was useless.

I might add that Martial Arts Assassin is probably 1 of the hardest challenges to play if it's your first character ever.

With no experience in playing you'll want the Shadow Master at max level to assist you.
Make sure you have atleast 3 different sources of damage (physical + fire + poison for example)
because in Hell you have dual imuun bosses (when facing the ancients you may have to fight 3 at once with dual imuuns!)
Normal and nightmare shouldn't be a problem, even if you goof up here and there, but Hell is, well Hell.

Make sure you have ample attack rating, defense, damage, life, resistances and + skills to run around there!

While Burst of Speed allows you to move and attack faster, you may want to switch to Fade from time to cover your resistances.

Fade also has a hidden %physical damage reduction. 1% /skill level. (just in case you didnt know)

Addition: this is only for actual points spend in the skill, +skills will not have any effect on the physical part

Iirc, it does give you 1% dr/skill level, not only hard points. So +skills works?

    Am I wrong?
