So this is a little issue that has been bothering me for a while, and i can't seem to find any relevant info around on how exactly synergy bonuses are granted to a skill. For example...

Level 1 Poison Nova has a BASE min poison value of 43 (according to the chippydip skill calculator). It gets a 10% bonus from both Poison Dagger and Poison Explosion. So, let me pull out my calculator...

43*1.2= 51.6

Hmmm, not the 52 the game gives. So perhaps the game applies each boost sequentially, taking the previous product when making the next synergy boost.

43*1.1= 43.7
43.7*1.1=52.03

So that works I guess...except when you get to the higher values. For instance, when at Lvl 20 Poison Nova has a base min value of 356 and when the same two bonuses are applied should give a 427.

356*1.1= 391.6
391.6*1.1= 430.76

but... 356*1.2= 427.2

In this case, the previous calculation returns the correct value. So I'm obviously missing something here, but can't figure out what (is it simply rounding to the nearest whole number rather than rounding down?). Anybody know the way the game goes about applying those synergy bonuses? Thanks in advance!

Yeah it's simply rounding up or rounding down. Synergies are additive, they don't multiply. Though +% skill damage applies on top of the full damage.

Also don't trust the LCS. Ever.

Thanks. That was my gut feeling, but I've been duped into oversimplified interpretations of game data before, and wanted to make sure.

The smallest unit of damage is actually 1/256 point, but the game displays values in points so they are truncated (rounded down to the nearest point).

The chippydip skill calculator hasn't been updated for 1.13, so level 1 Poison Nova now applies minimum 50 poison damage over 2 seconds. In 1.12, it applied minimum 224/256 poison damage per frame for 50 frames, resulting in minimum 43.75 (50 * 224/256) poison damage over 2 seconds (truncated to 43). The synergy bonus of +20% resulted in minimum 52.5 (43.75 * 1.2) poison damage over 2 seconds, which was truncated to 52.

In 1.12, level 20 PN applied minimum 1824/256 poison damage per frame for 50 frames, resulting in minimum 356.25 (50 * 1824/256) poison damage over 2 seconds (truncated to 356). The synergy bonus of +20% resulted in minimum 427.5 (356.25 * 1.2) poison damage over 2 seconds, which was truncated to 427.
