Is what JW says about D2 attribute allocation true and attack rating?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuKvxab1kBk#t=1m09s

What he says is you should put 120-220 into str, depending on what kind of armor, 75 dex for a good block chance if using a shield, no energy unless you are using energy shield as a sorceress, and put the remaining points into vit. Do you agree?

Also, I just started a barb. What attack rating should I shoot for?

Typically you only go for the minimum str required for your end-game gear, or what you hope to obtain. Respects in 1.13 make this pretty easy, too.

Dex is added for requirements, max block (if desired) or for better chance of hitting monsters or ranged dmg boost (bowazon).

Rest typically goes into VIT, but if you want some energy then why not. I wouldn't frown upon a few points in energy as an ES sorc like you suggested, but I also use ES as a 1pt wonder.

    I usually aim for >10.000.
High AR raven(s), Demon Limb(enchant), AR charms work wonders

I have ar probs with my current GF-barb build. He has a ~74% hit chance with 1700ar.

One of the best advices I've had in Diablo II was: Dexterity is a bad source of Attack Rating. 4 AR per DEX point is little. Raise your AR via items that give AR directly: Demon Limb/Lava Gout (Enchant), AR/Damage charms, AR items (Raven Frost, Angelic Ammy+Ring, etc). Adding points to DEX and raising Life via items is far less effective than raising VIT and getting AR from items, for example.

The only character that can rely on Dexterity as a source of AR is the bowazon, but that's because she needs the Dexterity for damage anyway, she doesn't need much VIT (if any at all) and that she gets TONS of it (300-500+ DEX range), on top of stuff like Fanat and Penetrate for AR multipliers.

JW doesn't know ABC of Diablo 2. I would hardly trust anything he says.
This is the guy who said that weapon switch is only used for storing gear, and thus removed it in D3. And other idiocies ( check the entire D3 general discussion forum .. )
