Computer won't detect monitor, USB ports, cd drive won't open

I haven't had problems with my windows 7 before but after installing diablo 2 I started to have minor ones and yesterday after playing diablo 2, my monitor was half black and the bottom half had a lot of spades, diamonds and other characters. Now my computer does turn on, fans work and everything else but it won't detect my monitor, USB ports (my mouse, keyboard, wireless adaptor) and my cd drive won't open. Not sure what happened. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

The issue you are experiencing could be anything from dust that got into the GFX card slot / RAM slots to the CMOS BIOS being fried or the entire motherboard being dead.

Presuming you are running a Desktop and not a laptop, open it up, take out the GFX card and RAM and clean them with a small brush (an old tooth brush should work fine). Before putting it back, clean the sockets they go into as well. This usually fixes the issue.

If it does not, I suggest calling some one who can properly diagnose your motherboard with a POST tester.

A system restore requires one to be able to use the monitor and boot up Windows. You have failed to read the part where the OP said that he has no such ability.
