I don't know the names or artists of a lot of songs from the 60's and 70's (I'm actually just bad with names in general), but I swear I've heard every single one of them! When I'm with my dad and he's listening to the radio, he listens to "oldies" stations, and I've never heard a song on them as an adult that I don't remember from my childhood. I got the stuff grilled into my head from the frequent 6 hour mobile prison camps, er, I mean road trips to "the land of my ancestors" (or "land a me ancesters").
Yeah, I remember when Music Television actually had music on it. We first got cable when I was 6 ('87-ish), and I was glued to MTV for years. Eventually, Beavis and Butthead was the only thing watchable and when they went off, MTV evaporated away.

I was one year old in 1978. Not old enough to go and see Star Wars I'm guessing.
