    Act II - Halls of Dead - help please

    Hi guys,

    I started playing D2 again after about 7 years and this time round I got stuck in act 2 in Halls of the dead the last level.

    I am so frustrated that I feel like breaking my apple - not kidding. I walked through a few chambers in the HoD level 3 and got attacked by these green bat demons and the blood suckers kill me every bloody time! I died this morning like 10 times at minimum. I even walked round the Rocky Waste and beyond a few times again to gain some more magic items, get more experience and go up a level, but that didn't help. Tried different weapons, tried searching the web. These green blood suckers are immortal... ? I tried running from them to retrieve the Horadric Cube before they get me, but there is no escape.

    I play for Amazon, Single player, Level 18.

    Can someone give me a bit of advice please?

    Your level seems really low. In single player there's a players8 command that will help your character level faster. Hit enter, then type /players 8 to get a very high experience boost. What equipment are you using and what are your skills?

    Level 19 (cleared Maggot's Lair and progressed )
    Strength 51
    Dexterity 46
    Vitality 40
    Energy 33
    Attack Damage 4-15
    Attack Rating 255
    Defense 170
    Fire resist 15
    Cold resist 15
    Lightning Resist 20
    Poison Resist 23

    Right now I'm using blood crescent Scimitar - damage 3 -10 , vfast attack, *70% enhanced damage, 15% life stolen per hit, 33% chance of open wounds, *15 to life, all resist *15, *4 to light radius. When I got killed the first time I was using Superiro Light Crossbow, damage 11?? can't quite remember, fast attack, extra fire resist and enhanced damage - haven't been unable to retreive it as I can't get even close to the dead body. Got killed there too many times, now reluctant to go back, but will have to eventually for the horardic cube.....

    So how exactly does that command8 work?

    Before anything else, your weapon choice is terrible for amazon and the most important decision should be whether you will use mostly bow or mostly javelins through first ~70 levels (up to hell) and place skill points accordingly. If you choose bow, you should take some 3 open socket bow, put chipped gems in it, pump multyshot to maximal available level and be happy by now If you choose javelins you will be very happy a bit later when you could pump charged strike and extremely happy when you will pump lightning fury (at least until your mana bulb is not black again). Right now you can pump power strike. The other important point you miss is mercenary.

    Thanks. Did what you said - grabbed a socketed bow, put a gem in it and fired arrows like crazy. Went back to Halls of Dead, killed everything with fire arrows and retreived the horardic cube! I don't think I will use another weapon.
    Saying that though, I haven't had any weapons Imbued from Act 1, I think I wanna wait until I am at least level 40 or so, but can I get a bow imbued and is that a good idea?

    You can get a bow imbued if you so choose, however a bow filled with gems is probably going to overpower it easily at early levels so I personally wouldn't until later on at least.

    In single player you can simulate there being other players in the game with the playersx command. Just open the prompt (hit the enter key) and type /playersx (x being a number from 1 - 8). This will make it so that the monsters have more health and do more damage, but also grant more experience when killed. What level of the command is usually whatever you feel the most comfortable with, but many people in the single player forum usually have no problem running players8 through normal and nightmare.

    Zuz, are you playing Classic, or the expansion? Have you patched up to the current version (1.13D)?
    OH PLEASE HELP I found out why Waldo's always hiding he did so many horrible things please let me in he's righ

    my suggestion as a 3-months experienced player (lol):
    1) Level up first - I know this is painful, but u gotta do it anyway...wanna know how to level up faster? [PRESS ENTER, type "/players 8" (without " ")...gonna make monsters stronger (HP-wise, not attack), but u gonna level up faster!

    2) When surrounded, RUN RUN RUN!....And by RUN means not running away for good, just run for a few distance (to make gap from the crowd), then wait until there're some idiot monster chasing u down, then u can dispatch them one-by-one (works all the time for me, specially if u have cold-based merc on ur side - one from kurast dock is my fav)

    Everyone stole what I was going to say.

    If you are using bow skills, I suggest the cold tree (cold, ice, freezing). Good for crowd control and damage.

    Also, talk to Greiz (the guy standing by the trap door to the Sewers) and get yourself an Act II merc. Combat or Defensive is fine ( I never use Offensive). He will help you through the rest of the game if you equip him with a good polearm and some armor.

    The dmg from monster is increased ofc.. By like 40-45% at 8 players.
