Old Item Find Thread
Yeah yeah, it's not January yet, but I figured with the new year starting soon, it was an opportune time. After receiving Thy's permission, I figured this was worth a new Item Find Thread! What you're about to see is the result of a lot of time, and I'll go into a little more detail later. But first, let's get our Greek mythology on! Note, the following are real mythological characters and events, however some stretching is required to make the story work
Heracles (later known as Hercules in the Roman adaptation of the Gods), son of Zeus, was known not only for his physical strength, but also for his wit. He defeated the giant Antaeus using his wit, and also tricked Atlas into taking the Sky back on his shoulders. He was often found spending time with children, and was generally regarded as a pleasant being. Few, however, saw his darker side. Greed and ego silently haunted Heracles.
Hippolyta, daughter to Ares, an Amazonian queen, possessed a mythical girdle, which she received from her father. The girdle signified her royal authority. Heracles, in a fit of greed, wished to remove the girdle from her ownership in favor of his own. Asteria(another Amazon), however, remained loyal to Hippolyta and sought battle with Heracles. In the end, Heracles'strength overpowered Asteria, and she was slain defending her Queen.
Zeus, outraged with his son's actions,chose to intervene. As Asteria breathed her last dying breath, Zeus forged a weapon for Heracles' destruction, hereby reviving Asteria
In addition, Asteria was granted the Revenge of the Titans, infused with Zeus's lightning:
It's not upped or personalized yet, but I like the 199ed roll enough to make it part of the story
Now to some of the logistics. I found a zod a few months ago doing Pindle runs, and instead of making a botd right then and there, I decided I wanted something awe-inspiring. Vex was found easily in LK. Massive damage for multiple builds was what I wanted,so I decided against a 1-hander. I also want to try it on a merc,which is why I settled on a spear. So I decided to try and find one of those absurdly powerful 1.07 eth bases.
From there, I got 1.07 installed and working (which was a pain! I couldn't find my disc, and my ISO wasn't working, but I got it working), and spent ~2 months gearing and levelling a FO/SF sorc for rack running. I matriarched her just a few days ago
Rack running was slow going at first, until I got the hang of how racks work. I really wanted a Ghost Spear rack, but when I found a perfectly stable War Pike rack 2 teles away from the WP, I couldn't resist. ~400 runs later, an almost perfect superior ethereal one dropped, and I forwarded it to 1.13. I levelled my zon to A5, closed the game, smoked a good luck cigar, and crossed my fingers. I probably spent a good 30 seconds just putting the runes in the war pike. Vex. Hel. El. Eld. Zod. Eth. I closed my eyes, opened them again, and about had a heart attack when I saw:
A PERFECT ROLL.
Needless to say, I skyped all my d2 buddies freaking out, and my dad started lecturing me about how it's just a game and nobody cares, but holy hell am I thrilled!

In case others are curious, no runes were cubed in the making of this spear.
With spear and javelin in hand, Asteria the Amazon was reborn! Obviously, she'll be a javazon, but instead of cta/spirit or a bow on switch, she'll use the spear
