Don't get so into DDO that you neglect to glance outside a (preferably barred) window periodically. Could be zombies, a locust plague, Westboro picketing in your yard, meteors... the problem with this whole "end of the world" thing is that nobody is even telling us what to expect. Maybe it'll just rain frogs which will lead to ???

Or maybe it'll rain spiders! Yeah, Mayan spiders!

Steve- TL;DR version, Santa comes from legends and stories waaaay back when. There are at last three different possibilities.

Odin from Norse mythology and when he would ride the night sky on his 8-legged horse Sleipnir.

In an old Celtic perspective, The Holly King who would fight the Oak King at summer's solstice (Midsummer) and then, as the year continued on and summer changed into fall, fall into winter, he would hunt and gather food for his people, deliver them on a sled pulled by 8 deer. It is said that the Holly King lived in the north during the summer time while Oak King ruled and during the winter months Oak King would move to the south.

And then there is Saint Nicholas, who was kind, compassionate, giving and was put in prison for either being a Christian and refusing to be worshiped as a god, something. Well, he gets out, becomes a bishop or resumes his. . . bishopry (? Not a word? Well, it is now!) until he passes on December 6th, where the holiday Sinterklass and St. Nicholas's Day comes from.
