I found two of the same legendary in a short time.

I was playing in act 3 and found the legendary barbarian belt Lamentation. Then 10 minutes later i found another lamentation. This is suspicious.

Does anyone know even roughly what the odds of that happening are?

It would only be suspicious if it somehow had the exact same stats. Otherwise I'd call coincidence.

I don't know if they fixed it but I've had two exact same rares drop. Someone else posted a screenshot of two exact rares in the Single Player forum too.

There are many reports of the same legendary dropping in short succession, never happened to me though, at least not in the same run.

I believe they fixed that rare double drop bug. It was right at the start of patch 1.0.3 I think. I had it happen to me and do have a ss of it somewhere.

I've found Ageless Might, then some other legendary, then Ageless Might on a single Alkaizer run. Then early in next run, another Ageless Might. This all happened in less than 15 minutes.

However, they all had widely different stats. It's just the RNG. Don't freak out.

Found exactly the same legendary gloves within 3 minutes or so. Also with the same stats and also turned into the same looking brimstones

1) I know about the rare double drop bug. This isn't concerning that. I just wanna know what the chances are of finding the same legendary again in a short time like this.
I was hoping we could dig a little deeper than rng is rng. This is the statistics forum after all

I suck at maths otherwise i would calculate it myself.

Ivory tower vs Stormshield for example.

I looked very hard into drop odds of particular Legendaries vs others and could never find any data on it. Without that info there is no way to know the is of then happening in sort succession like that.

If somebody has that data I would love to have it!

But yea, some Legendaries drop way more frequently than others.

1) You can't get level 63 legendaries (like Ice Climbers and Stormshield) unless you're in Inferno Act 3 MP0 or any act MP1+. (This is obv to most people.)
2) After meeting the requirement in point #1, the ilvl63 items (Ice Climbers, Stormshield) drop less often than ilvl62 (Fire Walkers) and ilvl61 (Ivory Tower), with an approximate 3:4:5 ratio (source). It is likely that the RNG translates "ilvl62 shield, legendary" into Ivory Tower, which would mean a 3:9=1:3 ratio.
3) For something like getting Natalya's Bloody Footprints, even if the RNG rolls set item on ilvl63 boots, there are 4 options to pick from, presumably with an equal chance of Zuni's, Blackthorne's, and Immortal King's boots, making each rarer. Depending on how the RNG rolls, Ice Climbers might also be competing for that attention (it might get split 5 ways).

BTW Stormshields aren't that rare, I get them pretty frequently. However, I've only gotten Ice Climbers once, so I'm thinking #3 might apply to them. Might.
