So,
Finally quit D2....bought D3 (reading reviews, it sounds like some of the initial thoughts of it not being quite so good have improved with patches...)
Just installed in about 30 minutes ago, working my way through...I read the newbie forums (feels weird...gotta say...)
I have, through the years, played a ton of solo on d2 - back when d2 was popular, I did play with a group of people, but through the years, my friends all moved on from d2. Regardless, I am rambling...
The main point of this was, what are a couple things to avoid doing as a stupid newbie? I did read the to do list, but I was curious if there are like 3-4 things that are absolutely stupid to do based on my d2 knowledge...
As an aside, the game looks like it is a bit simplified initially compared to D2...
Spell damage is based on your weapon damage...
That may sound stupid but I didn't realize that till I was like lvl 20 with my first toon....
No more Scrolls of Identify... just right click the item...
Thanks guys - I picked up on the elective thing on the sticky, I did miss the weapon damage one though!
At first it looks a bit weird running around as a wizard with a huge two-handed axe, but I have to admit I very much enjoy the variety it brings!

When people tell me "plz" just because it's shorter than 'please', I feel perfectly justified to answer 'No' because it's shorter than 'Yes'.
And the Lord said unto Carl: 'Come forth and receive eternal life'. But Carl came fifth and won a toaster.
What type of character are you playing? Normal - Hell there is not a lot of things you need to worry about as sub-optimal play will still get you through the game just fine. Inferno (and to some extent Hell post Act 2) will require a good understanding of how skills and stats work together to be effective and if we know what type of character you are playing we can give you some tips.
