It's inevitable that any conversation about the progress of humanity is going to include traditionally volatile subjects like religious freedom, social values, civil rights, federal power/spending, etc. We just stumbled out of a particularly explosive and possibly game-changing election season and emotions are still running high. I'm not at all surprised by the harsh direction this thread took - we've hardly had a chance to catch our collective breaths and reflect.
That's not true at all. I think the original topic was very worthwhile. This just may be the wrong moment to attempt that conversation. You're totally free to begin anew with a "Humanity's Progress 2.0" sometime down the road.
