Hello,

DPS has gotten much better as of late, and with rend I don't die anywhere near as much as I used to, looking for constructive criticism on either build changes to try or gear changes to make to survive better in A3 and A4.
I want to farm A3, I know I wont be as fast as WW and that's OK but the better caliber of gear drops in A3 and that's what I want, I'm aiming to get IK Chest, Belt, Boots either farmed or purchased (with Gold) I'm a long way from that at the moment so any suggestions will be helpful,
and oh these stats are unbuffed (enchantress only) and I do swap weapons master for Superstition when in a3 or a4 (yes profile does show I've completed A4, I did this pre nerf solo in a sword and board tank build, skipping elites, bosses aren't my problem, surviving elites is)
I have 42 mill saved up, but I hate spending it (see comment about IK pieces above) but if you can point out something that is worth the money that would be greatly appreciated.
I will comment on the gear as I do not have much experience with Rend.
For Act 3 I think your going to want 30k dps if your DW. I think some Str, Crit Hit and AS would help you. Your weapons are fairly high dps for how low your overall dps is.
Bracers: Find similar with either Str or Vit, I don't think it would cost that much.
Shoulders: I think you could get new shoulders with 10-15 less Str, similar AR, but add either Vit or Life%.
Belt: Same as shoulders lose ~10-15 Str, keep AR, add Vit or Life%.
Gloves: I'd really try for some gloves with some Crit Hit on them. Attack Speed would be good as well to help your LoH.
Pants: Should be able to get some STR or an open socket or two with similar Vit and AR.
The pants may be a bit expensive, but I think all the other pieces should be affordable(under 2-3m each). I think you could afford to lose 25 AR total if you add enough other stats. It will make you more well rounded.
I would aim to get your strength up to around 1900. This seems like the sweetspot. Your resistances are nice but you have very low crit chance. If you can get another say 10% cc, with weap master and ruthless, you'll have 40% crit chance which is a decent target to shoot for
The trick is to do this without losing your resist stats
First up, warcry/Impunity and battle rage/Marauders rage gets me up to over 1k all res and 29% crit chance and 32k DPS
changing tough as nails to ruthless puts me up to 38.8k DPS and drops armor to 7236
that's 1340 armor or 3.39% damage reduction, I think that will definitely help, not much of a loss for a decent gain
I think the main things that kill me are fire and arcane, but that's more of a case of learning not to stand still and face tank, than much I can do with gear (other than more HP which I should do anyway)
RE Gear, yup, yup and yup.
I'm working on more strength, I have flawless Star Ruby pattern, working on the next two as well and collecting rubies to craft.
I played around with the new spec in a2 and died to every fire mob I came across, 38.8k DPS or not they ate me for breakfast lunch and tea.
so heres a question for you, considering you almost always have to stand in the fire to fight the fire mobs, should I stack fire res? (as in same gear but second mod res be fire wherever possible) and is there any point to having Life regen? it seemed odd to me when I noticed my barb has none.
I had a play around in a3 changing up the passives and no combination seemed enough to take on an elite pack without dying while dual wielding, only when I put on shield dropped to 16k dps 36% block (helm of command) with all deffensive passives was I able to do it. either I'm just having an off night or I'm far from ready for a3
You do not, in fact, need to stand in the fire. Circle around and get a different angle, kite a little to spread them out, etc. Positioning matters, even for a Barb.
I tend to get ringed in a lot, if there is a chance to move I do, but there are times where there is no escape other than leap and it's on cool down. that's when you have to stand inf the fire and survive till you can move/ they are all dead or you can leap again, and thats the part I cant currently survive and what I am trying to fix
As Sentarius said, positioning and play style is all you have to change. If survivability is an issue, use a shield. You have more resistance than I do and i don't think that you need more than 1k AR buffed. If you do decide to use a shield...rend/revenge combo is a double twisting dealer of carnage.
I looked at your build...i would change out Battle Rage/into the fray for WotB. Beserker will make you immune to being frozen/jailed. Don't put yourself into a position where you are walled against something and unable to move
Also regarding my original gear advise. I forgot to add, after adding vit/life% on your belt and shoulders, maybe even some on bracers. I'd try to add dps modifiers to your gloves and rings. 30k dps with Battle Rage is still very low for DW, especially for how nice your weapons are.
PPB brings up a great point WotB best use is to keep you from getting crowd controlled, unfortunately I think that makes it a must have in 95% of barb builds.
Good luck.
yeah, replaced leap with WoTB and replaced pants with more HP and 2 sockets (star rubies) replaced sidearm for maniac on frenzy. Sidearm is more aoe damage if you don't take into account rend also gets the boost. sitting on about 48k dps with enchantress and frenzy stacked (ruthless and weapons master), more to come, and yeah I forgot there was no crit on those gloves, they are overstacked resists instead, I need to get in and calculate how much res I can lose and if I should get IAS or Crit with crit damage.
