I've tested it out(though not thoroughly) and the stun chance for the Wizard passive "Paralysis" is well below 8%. I am getting way more critical hits and my CH chance is at a paltry 5%
Which is why I guess it says "Up to 8% chance to stun" rather than "8% chance to stun". So does anyone know how the proc works?
Sorry I'm ignorant. I didn't really understand proc coefficients before I made this thread. I still don't get though why critical hits would be so much more frequent with electrocute than the stun chance, since they should both be affected by the proc coefficient.
Critical hits arenot and don't have a reason to be affected by the proc coefficient. Effects that rely on critical hits to proc are affected by the proc coefficient, so after you make your crit you have to check the proc coefficient to determine if the effect procs.
To expand on what Karth is saying, you have an 8% chance to proc, multiplied by the proc coefficient of the spell you're using. A list of proc coefficients (1.03, don't have a 1.04 one yet) can be found here:

So, if you're using piercing orb, for example, with a 25% proc coefficient. Your chance to stun with paralysis is 25% of 8%, or 2% chance to stun.
What happens, if you include a weapon with % chance to stun?
Is it a separate calc or are they combined
Ah, thanks for the info. I'm still confused though, because my lightning hydra seems to have the highest chance to stun, and the proc coefficent for hydra is 0. Maybe it's changed since 1.04. Or maybe paralysis isn't affected by proc coefficients? Has there been testing on it?
Not that I expect anyone to do the testing, since paralysis seems like a worthless passive anyways (which makes me sad because I like the idea of it)
Paralysis is definitely effected by proc coefficients, but like I said, that's a 1.03 proc coefficient list, it is possible things have changed (though I'd think if they buffed hydra's proc coefficient they'd have put it in the notes - merits testing).
