Why I deleted all my characters and started over

Just to confirm that I changed my region to America from Europe and its a complete restart in that sense from profile stats ie kills to achievments and artisans!!

So In theory can only truely re-start 3 times in that sense.

I decided to do this as well; deleted my softcore characters and have been using self-found/crafted gear only (not even twinking or buying from merchants). Normal and Nightmare seem semi-challenging this way, and it's a lot of fun. Also great not worrying about Gold or the Auction House.

Still using the AH for my Hardcore characters though, but that may change with 1.0.5 and my next death :P

Doesnt changing region give you a complete clean slate?

After farming act 1 for a long time (and levelling a dh and a barb) i found some upgrades to give me more hp. Paragon 16 now with 40k hp and 43k dps unbuffed. Res just under 300.

Changed skills a bit:
Blizzard/snowbound
Hydra/lightning hydra
Archon/improved
Magic weapon/force weapon
Blur, Galvanizing ward & Astral presence

Worked very well. Was able to beat ZK, then moved on and was surprised when i beat Belail on my 1st try!

Moved into act 3 and killed Ghom in 1st try also

About to try mp1 soon... and all this entirely selffound, am proud of that!
It can be done!

Page won't show it for a little while, but I've finally now done it too.

I attempted it with my WD first, but her true Achilles heel was exposed... her armor and resists really do suck, and she has no life steal. She gets away with that by hiding behind her pets. Well, it wasn't Diablo who continually mangled her... it was her own clone! I tried a few times, but her NV stack finally expired, so I said to hell with it and gave it a try with the Barb. She got nailed by a couple of nasty elite packs in Spire 2, but beat Diablo on the first try.

I'm actually glad it was the Barb who got it done first. She's an older character than the WD, and went through many more growing pains on her way up. I started up the Barb back around the 18th or 19th of June (WD got started around 21 or 22 of July, and had a bunch of gear waiting for her). So, yeah. That's 4 months plus change to take her from zero to where she is now w/o using the AH. That shows you how brutal 1.0.3 was (and even 1.0.4 to an extent) for the self-finding D3 player. 1.0.5 feels like paradise in comparison.

The WD finds more green/gold stuff due to her higher plvl and %MF, but I am going to give this Barb more playtime and make her more competitive as a farmer. I believe she's proven tonight that she's actually the stronger character.

Congrats Painman, well done! It is an awesome feeling knowing you did it selffound.

I managed to kill Diablo although my resist/armor is quite low. I compensated by having 50k HP instead.
