I feel this is a big benefit for hardcore where there will be somewhat less MF stacking going on.
On the other hand I'm disappointed that they didnt just keep the 99 levels system from D2. I liked that it was such a challenge to get to 99
Well now instead of bragging about our highest level dead character (mine was a 93 k/t sin by the way, with no public games so a slow 93) we can brag about our highest paragon level dead character.
Gaining MF from additional levels seems a lot more awesome than gaining piddly amounts of stats, so I'm all for it as opposed to traditional levels.
It is entirely likely that the level cap may be increased with a future expansion (following in the footsteps of WoW).
Paragon its nice but there should be something like an achievement each 10 Paragon levels and with each achievement the asociated paragon levels become account bound, similar to level blacksmith or jeweler.
Lvl 10 paragon = 1st Paragon achievement = you account bound those levels.
Would be nice for HC & SC.
That's not really an issue, since most people didn't stop playing after they reached 60. If anything, before paragon, a lot of killing monsters after 60 felt like a waste of time unless you found something good.
It's still going to be about getting to 60 when rebuilding, since 60 is the NV and the level 60 gear.
It also lets people sandbag a bit more if they're too scared to enter inferno, like myself.
It'll suck more, but then when doesn't losing a character suck anyways?
I don't think anyone will reach lvl100 paragon lol. That said, losing a lvl60 you spent weeks on VS losing a lvl60 plvl43 you spent weeks on isn't really any different lol. You still *lose* all that time and effort - in the latter you just had a bit more to show for it.
I quite like the paragon system. Feels good when every mob you kill (veeeery) slowly makes you get stronger and more efficient.
I also hope they don't raise the level cap in expansions and gear tiers like they do in wow... Just makes all gear and effort obsolete. I really liked what they did in D2 with LoD. Same level cap and different (not necessarily better) items meant you could keep playing the same game in more ways instead of simply having to regrind and replace everything all over.
I just hit level 2 Paragon with my WD and just wondering a bit .. When Am I suppossed to start finding items again ?? Ive yet to find a single item in act 1 Inferno (cleared today) that Id actually use and Im still checking the AH regularly for upgrades.. I started act 2 but was chased back to Caldeum by some nasty Wasps and I realised Im undergeared still for act 2...
well, my WD is paragon 5 or 6, and I've found one actual upgrade and no uniques in all that time. The economy seems really strange to me - I tried to sell a 912 dps (no stat) 1h mace with an empty socket and it went unsold at 35,000g, yet there are countless other items for sale at 500k-1m plus that I can only assume will never sell, either.
Good luck finding items in act 1. Personally, I think I'm done with the game; I see a3 and a4 videos of people geared much, much, much better than I am - crits everywhere, 100k + hits, etc... - and they're still taking what I consider way too long to kill some elite packs. I dislike the WoW-style item grind - which really is a gold grind in d3 - to progress.
Shame.
