    What was the point of the level 60 cap?

    dumb asses, they failed at their own game.

    Over the course of the next couple of years they are going to realize how bad the game is... and then try to slowly fix it over time.

    Maybe by the time of the first expansion will the game be an actual worthy successor to d2.

    The point of the 60 cap was so they could increase it in an expansion. Then increase it again in another expansion. Nothing more than that really.

    Given people's tendency to bash the D3 team for anything they do, writing this post may be a waste of time, but anyway...

    The point of the level cap (60 or 99, doesn't matter at all) in D3 (or in any other game really) is to give the devs a way to balance the difficulty of the endgame. They could have allowed players to level to 99, but then monster would go as high as well, since their goal was to make it impossible for players to out-level the content.

    And no, the Paragon levels won't change anything in this regard (or barely anything), because the extra stats by themselves won't help you much. By the time we'll reach level 100 we'll probably be finished with Act 4 and decked out in great gear, which is what defines our character's power still. As I see it the Paragon system is only a way to phase out MF from our gear and as such it's a change I welcome.

    No, I agree with the posters query.. Even though I might not agree with his phrasing...

    Capping the game at an easy-to-reach level turned MANY players away from the game after just a week (I am one of them) and this Paragon system brought me back... Now since there is no customization or "illusion thereof" upon leveling up, we'll see how long people will last.. But hey, it's much better than nothing and really brings weight to OP's question.

    You're right Dacar, but with them adding stat gains with this new system, it would almost,(and I use the word almost carefully) make leveling in future expansions irrelevant. There are no skill points anymore so all we would get is more +stats, unless of course they add in more runes. So I figure this paragon system will work for the time being, but when it comes to an expansion, it should be interesting what the devs decide to do.
