Until a few days ago all my Wizard items except the weapon were self found, but I couldn't progress very well past act 1 of inferno. So out of curiosity I spent 2.6M gold in the AH on new gear. I focused on Int, Vit and all resists.
With these items I have about 27K damage, 62K life and 970 all resists when using Force Weapon and Prismatic Armor.
Now I can actually survive past act 1 and I just finished act 2 today.
Is the equipment I bought sufficient to progress further? Or should I flip it back on the AH and try and buy better stuff? If I do try to get new equipment what other affixes should I focus on? Crit chance/damage and LOH probably, but is there anything else I should get?
My Wizard is especially vulnerable to fast mobs as I can't kite them very well and I don't have any LOH.
And how about my skills? I've been using the Piercing Orb + Venom Hydra build for a while now and it functions very well. I'm not sure about the Illusionist passive as with the high life and resists it doesn't seem to kick in as much as with the old gear. What could be a good alternative to Illusionist?
tl:dr: How's my Wizard?
Act 3 is a big jump. You will need more DPS. resist should be good
Do you want to farm a3 or just get through it for progression? I'd say you are more than fine for progression (maybe overstacked on vit a bit but whatever). For farming I'd want more DPS.
If progression is your goal, I say just go for it. If you're looking for a good build, check my recent guide where I beat all of inferno with 300k gold worth of gear with a wizard:

that equipment is pretty damn good. I'd say go for it.
