Re: Piñata Mode - Puzzle Rings to pop out Treasure Goblins

Apparently they only pop out A1 inferno goblins according to a blue, and the chance is sub.01% chance to proc.

If you have one, sell it now before the bottom falls out.

Only pop A1 inferno, even when not in Inferno?

    Here's the blue post

    -> http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/6397790047#14

The level of the Treasure Goblin summoned by a Puzzle Ring is based on what difficulty the wearer is currently playing through. If you're playing in Normal, you'll summon a lower level goblin; if you're playing in Inferno, you'll summon a higher level goblin.

    Normal - lvl 13
    Nightmare - lvl 35
    Hell - lvl 53
    Inferno - lvl 61

The loot the goblin drops will then be based on its level (not the wearer's level or the level requirement on the ring), so what you get really depends on what you're doing at the time.

    Does it work for followers?

    Yup!

08/22/2012 03:15 PMPosted by FusrodahHrmm...does this mean you always get an "act 1" treasure goblin in inferno even if it is summoned in act 3?

    Correct.
I think it's kind of funny, but not really worth for the loot... If i find one I'll give it to my follower

well for a multiboxer 4 of these on a party could work out quite well, even @ lvl 61, no?

i dunno, i dont farm but that seems like a reasonable way to get some drops.

Re: Piñata Mode - Puzzle Rings to pop out Treasure Goblins

Proc rate of 0.01 (every 10k hits?) does sound unweildy high.
You would want a high armor/life regen Barb to grab all the javelin goatmen in the Northern Highlands or something. And even then it would take several minutes to pop out a goblin (ten minutes assuming twenty spears hitting you per sec). My gut says Watchtower runs would be more likely to have a higher goblin encounter rate than the ring.

The thing is, look at all the reduce/eliminate goblin spawn fixes they did. Now they're putting control of a goblin spawn in player/botter hands. I've only thought about this in passing and it feels exploitable. I'm wagering that people who have made exploitation their job are going to hit this item hard.

i dunno i figured 4 monks standing in molten would trigger fairly quickly, no? you're right that 1/10k isn't much though, almost worthless for the average char for sure.

Re: Piñata Mode - Puzzle Rings to pop out Treasure Goblins

I'm not sure Molten counts as multiple hits. I find if I pass through it, damage follows me out, so I think it's a DoT. That would be weird to me if per-sec damage counted each tick as a separate hit given how smooth (high tick count) the DoTs seem to be.

But that would be a valid potentially bug-exploit way of doing it.
