Maybe it was leaked on purpose to get a reaction without officially saying, "This is what it's gonna be!" and that way if it DOES garner a negative reaction, they can be like, "I dunno who told you guys it would be X, but it's actually gonna be Y. Isn't Y WAY MORE AWESOMER than X?"
Conspiracy theories aside, this sounds awesome. I wonder if it would be worth it to have LoE affect your MF as it builds, too. So, NV keeps you in a game and farming content rather than specific end bosses; regular MF on gear works with improving what you get from these content farm runs; and LoE not only guarantees you a Legendary drop at 500, but maybe every 100 it gives you 10% base MF so you get rewarded along the way for building it up and when you have 400 LoE and 5 stacks of NV, that's an extra 115% MF.
To be honest, it sounds awesome.
Finding a legendary is already random and rare so you can compare it to jackpot. This idea of LoE that increases slowly each time you kill elite and does not reset, is a good one, cause it would compensate poor mechanics of NV stacks and make short game periods and act swapping more popular. Of course you cannot give exact break point how many elite packs you need to kill to drop a legendary, but have still randomness and slowly increase the chance to get "7 affix roll" is great. In the end, people would not notice the difference. LoE could then reset after 10 or 1000 elite packs, but overall increase the chances more you play and avoid not to get a single legendary like some people do right now.
BoE, well dunno about this, not really belong to Diablo series and would discourage people of using items that are dropped and sell instead.
Anyway, this reddit post is hoax even I think this "LoE" will be patched one way or another.
