Hello All,
I have some questions about how you guys handle gear upgrades. About 2 weeks ago I went from a Frenzy(tank style) DW build to Double Tornado. Around the same time I added about 100+% mf to my character in gear while doing my best to maintain my as many stats as possible. While doing that I dropped any ammy that had about 250LoH which dropped my total LoH to 550, the new ammy had so many other great stats.
Basically while playing the double tornado builds I decided that 550 LoH was to low, many recommend at least 800. So I wanted to get more LoH I searched the AH for an OH with 700+ LoH(its hard to find affordable ones), I found the dagger currently in my profile. My old OH was a 750dps sword with ~150str, ~60dex, ~105vit, 414LoH, 96% CD, it was very nice other then LoH. The new dagger cost me 10m but I lost 5k dps and 5k life, not so worried about the dps since tornadoes deal mh damage.
Questions:
1. With 986 LoH, do I have enough LoH now? I played yesterday and it was definitely better then the ~550 I had before.
2. What would you upgrade next if you were me?
3. Do you guys get frustrated that at some point any decent upgrade is 20m+ gold, if not more? I wonder if it's worth bothering to look for upgrades now, kind of makes playing a bit blah.

Thanks
I assume we're talking about act 3 farming. If not ignore what I say.
I'd tend to favor something more like 1500 LoH. That's where I found I was really at a "sweet spot" where I could just whirl through whatever I felt like and not really worry about it.
As far as low hanging fruit on the upgrade front, most of your items seem pretty good. If it were me, boots is what I would upgrade. I can't stand not to have runspeed. A decent pair of sage's seekers can get you roughly the same strength and resist all, a little less MF (ilvl 61), but then you get 12% move speed and ~200 bonus armor. IMHO a completely decent upgrade. If you also want the vit as well as the strength (and don't trade down on the strength) they'll be quite spendy, but if you either don't get the vit, or trade down a bit on the strength, they can be had quite cheaply.
Yes I get frustrated at having upgrades feel like they're out of reach.
Thanks Magic i'll look into the boots, i might just try to find some rares with Move Speed. At this point i'm not keen on giving up Str or Vit. Now if I could find a pair of the Sage Gloves and Sage Boots to pair together to get the +35 all stats that would be nice. But replacing my gloves would be expensive, if I could find a pair of Sage gloves with similar stats. But I agree the armor boost would very nice, I will have a decision to make.
I was also thinking of replacing my rare ring with a Str/CritHit4+/AR50+/MF or Str/CritHit4%+/LoH/AR50+ rings, if I could get either for 10m.
Honestly you have some really good items. You have excellent life and I would argue you can drop a little if you really had to. 986 LoH should be sufficient. You should clear inferno without any updates. By the way, your mainhand is very nice - how much did you get that?
One weakness that it has is that you could use more Crit Damage. Rings, Amulet, and Gloves could use some Crit Damage upgrading.
Here is my profile just for reference: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/F...8/hero/1831656
I grabbed my rings for about 5-8mil each. I find it cheaper to skip AR on rings and compensate on other pieces.
I am currently very frustrated that upgrades to my current gear is ridiculous. Most of the items that I do want are 10mil+ easy.
I wouldn't splurge on anything until we see stats on all new legendaries. Some will likely be BiS, which will hurt the value of other items in that slot.
Also, did you expect to upgrade indefinitely without spending 10+MM per item?
Of course not, but the upgrade cost curve gets real steep, real fast. Like you gear yourself out in 500k-1m items, and then the next incremental upgrades are 10m. That's where my barb is at right now. Most items in the 3-5m range are side-grades for me really, with 10m+ for items that are clear upgrades. My wizard is even higher on the curve, with most of her current items being in the 5-10m range, and clear upgrades being in the 50-100m range.
Woot I just got an amazing new offhand. I got lucky yesterday and found a pattern that sold for 75m gold.
@Vagrant I paid 9.26m gold for my MH about 10 days ago. I got lucky and won it on a bid.
@Kalix Not bad advice about holding off on splurging, too bad I couldn't pass up on the OH I got today. Of course I expect upgrades to be more gold as I go, but I was really getting frustrated at 50m+ buyouts on upgrade items or bidding 20-25m on items and getting out bid. Now mind you I'm not bidding 25m on items that I know are worth much more then that, but where 20-25m is a pretty fair offer.
I think i'm going to try and get a new belt next with Str 175+, Vit 90+, AR65+, and MF.
I wouldn't say "too bad" by any means on your OffHand if you're referring to Booming Scale. Bliz only said iLvl 61 and 62 can roll damage up to par with 63s, there's zero indication that I'm aware of that other affixes can reach those levels. And that LoH value is definitely a ilvl63 affix. You didn't mention how much you paid for it, but if those other bid/buyout numbers are any indication, I think you got a steal on that weapon. Even if some new psycho legendary comes out that trounces all rares for Double Tornado offhands, the immediate unavailability of them should give you more than enough time to sell without eating a loss if you're so inclined.
The strength on that offhand is so nice. Yeah I wouldn't feel bad about that at all.
@Deded The new OH Booming Scale cost 33m on a bid. It is now my most expensive piece of gear I paid for, followed by my helm at 24m. Most of my other pieces were 10m or less.
Typically I try to make sure upgrades are at least a 5% upgrade combined using EHP and a dps spread sheet. The OH was a 4.8% dps upgrade and a 8.5% EHP upgrade total 13.3% , I never find upgrades that big any more. That makes the 33m well worth it.
I agree though even with new legendary around the corner it may be a bit before the market levels out for them, heck Skull Grasp rings still typically go for 50m+.
@Magic As I mentioned before i'm not sure if I'll go with the Sage boots. But I was looking at Sage gloves and found rares that should be similar or slightly better pair then mine but with 50+ AR for 10-15m.
Also I swapped my belt out picking up a touch of dps and a decent armor through more STR and Vit and added 25+ AR.
I do appreciate the feedback guys.
