I hope if I have kids (I wish I could say when, but you can see in the DooL that there might be a problem) that I'll be a dad and not a father.
Not sure what the DooL is. However, since you already intend to be a better father than your father was, you very likely will be.

As for marriage, this article apparently caused quite a stir, and the rebuttal by a woman who had to resign from John Edwards' campaign was the subject of many sneers and chortles.

Marriage is not a good idea if you're self-centered, but having a child out of wedlock is a far, far worse idea IMO. One co-worker, recently retired, has a grand-daughter who's almost exactly my son's age. The mother was a 'good time' girl who partied with rich NYC types, had the child almost as a lark with one of her numerous boyfriends, and now that she's aging she's living with (and off) her mother. It's scary how many people seem to have kids because they think it's "neat" or "cute", thus condemning their kids to miserable childhood and probably more.

Why don't they just get a dog?
Sorry, only just noticed this. Currently having a fever, so bear with me. Well maybe not bear with me, don't want anyone else to get ill too.

I'm not entirely sure how cookies work. Some make sense, if I have visited the website of my computer store, I get their adds featured for a while. I understand.
What I meant was was that sometimes the cookies seem to half guess I'm a 35 year old single female and then generate pretty stigmatizing stuff - dating sites, baby sites, plastic surgery sites, parenting sites, wedding dress sites. When I am more aware and actually realise the big, big announcement about cookies and disable 'm as much as the site allows me I usually end up with more random yet weirder adverts, the weirdest ones being one about penis extensions, one about getting a fantastic programm to do something with Java (probably the software and not the Indonesian island) and a very strange one about cars.

None of it on this site, where I'm usually lumbered with gaming adverts. Pretty pointless for a clutch like me.

Yeah, I figured as much but couldn't resist the "toss your cookies" quip. I remember back in the day when I would d/l a lot of fantasy art (Vallejo, Ruiz, Frazetta, and the like). Apparently the word "Fantasy" is one that makes dollar signs appear in the eyes of bot writers and spammers alike, because I wouldn't only get dirty ads but porn spam up the wazoo.

That's why I pretty much only use pseudonym accounts nowadays. It's horrific just how much information is stored online and used for cross-referencing "YOU".

I strongly believe that at the moment, (personal) information has a higher value than any other valuta.

Really? i think it's all fluff. i've never bought anything from any internet ad except a search ad, and the search ads show me what I was looking for anyway.

I've never been perusing my facebook or Gmail and said, oh gosh, I just have to click that. if anything, all that tracking is a big waste of time and energy. plus a lot of browsers block that stuff anyway.

but don't tell anyone, because I want to keep getting my email free.

No, that's not what I said. I never clicked anything myself there, but these days I find it's all about getting information here and there. Adds are more targeted relating to info you voluntarily (Facebook) or compulsary (payments like electricity) on the internet. And advertisers and companies seem willing to pay for this info.
Moreover, who of you pay with real money? I know I mostly don't. I'm probably one of the most clumsy computer people here, I can barely order something online, and though I'd like a tablet I feel I'm to much of a clutch for it, but even I don't get paid in real notes or coins. I get paid in numbers I can look up online on my bank account. And I can spend these numbers on my bills, my medical bills, food, or a holiday. Of course I can withdraw this money and then spend it, but most shops don't like it, and I can't pay my bills that way for sure, with every notification kindly telling me not to.

I heard of that, but I don't use it so that's no use for those ads.
