Bull****. You can turn your own question around, what is the is point of rares if legendaries are always better?
The goal should be to have legendaries and rare be equally good - with legendaries being very specialized - and a little better at what they are specialized in, while worse at what they are not specialized in.
Legendaries should certainly drop a lot more often though. If their droprates aren't increased, then it does seem like Blizzard isnt totally getting it.
Low dropchances made sense if a legendary was 100% sure to be great, but since legendaries are basically working like rare items, only having a marginal chance of being great, the dropchances have to be balanced around that, and thus being a lot higher than it is now.
On the other side, some people are greatly exaggerating how easy it was to get the high-end uniques in D2.
Same. Rarest I ever found in D2 HC was a Sacred Charge and I think a crappy Griffon.
I've already put in enough effort into grinding gear to solo HC Inferno with 10/13 self found.
They are nerfing Inferno and buffing drops, meaning it'll be even easier.
What more do the whiners want???
I'm going to have fun grinding to get some uber gear so I can feel god like in A3/A4, and that's going to take awhile, and that's a good thing.
What I do hope is that they buff A3/A4 drops to actually make slower farming there viable as opposed to Marathoning A1 over and over.
I also do believe that legendaries/sets are bit too scarce right now, I think a 2-3x buff to drop rate would be good. I probably found 40ish uniques over 600 hours of playing, 1 legandary per 5 hours seems fair. I certainly don't want to go to a flood of Isenharts and Venom Wards D2 style. Make uniques viable and keep them really uncommon.
Alternatively, nerf rares' drop rate and buff uniques to compensate.
I like when there is scarcity, it creates challenges.
I am excited about the new legendary items. Love the new stats, the buffed damage, the procs, and the interaction with current skills. Given that we do not know the changes to MF and skills in general it is a bit early to say "how powerful" these actually are, but I am definitely happy with this change.

Your top post is wrong and bad for the game. You are the guy they're talking about when they say players don't always know what's best. I could go into it, but it's probably already been covered in the thread by others.
Bread and circuses, legislation suspending the laws of probability (or at least making sure that they always come out on top), a high enough drop chance for everything to ensure that they can always find stuff good enough to use on their char or sell for gobs on the AH (econ 101 was a class in my high school but I guess not everywhere); take your pick.
Me, I just want a high ilvl wizard hat that looks like a wizard hat. WIZARDS NEED HATS NOW! Why does your wizard have that nasal sound when he talks? He's got a cold because nobody sells a wizard hat in his size! My wizard won't work again until proper hattery is provided!

If there is someone using it, obviously it drops and its farmable.
Legendaries are 1 in 1000 base chance off of a pack. With NV + MF, you can get that to 1 in 300 or so. If you clear Act 1 there are probably 100-150 packs. This means you should be able to snag a legendary once every 2-3 act 1 clears - which is about the rate that my MF Act 1 Demon Hunter finds them. I've found 6 legendaries doing that in the last month.
However, my Wizard with real gear who plays in Act 3 mostly has only found a couple legendaries. Fewer packs, a much longer time between them, and maybe only 200 MF if I can hot swap gear on a pack. Doing a complete siegebreaker run like I did last night probably netted me 20-25 packs. So even if I got my gear on for all of them, the expected drop rate is only 1 in 500... 25/500... 1 legend/set per 20 runs.
