So, is the character lost?

A character of mine can't enter games and it comes up a error, "Unable to enter game, generic bad file" and I'm wondering if the character is lost forever? It's an untwinked character and quite important to me.

I think that means the save file is corrupted, you could try contacting Blizzard and see if they can do anything about it.

Or it might be some D2 file is corrupted, good old reinstall might work in that case.

Reinstalling will not fix it, its been tested with two different computers

It's in bnet, right? Found out from this link that atleast someone got it fixed by asking Blizzard:

That did the trick, quite fast infact and I cant agree with the kids on b.net who says that blizzard dont care about this old game anymore.
