Best Ray of Frost Dmg: channel or repeat click cast?

Hey everyone,

a friend of mine told me he read on some forums that repeatedly clicking ray of frost does more damage than holding down the spell and channelling it, since it applies the damage instantly at the start of each cast and can be applied faster than continuously channelling.

Sounded strange to me though so just wanted to ask if anyone here knows/has tested this/read about it/etc

I want to say yes, I noticed more lose of life on the mobs on Disintegrate when i click/click/click on it.
