Standing desk. Standing allows you to burn FIVE TIMES more calories than sitting. According to livestrong.com you burn 50 more calories on average standing than you do sitting. If you’re a hardcore gamer you probably spend at least six hours a day at your computer. Burning 50 extra calories per hour at six hours a day equals 300 calories a day, 9300 calories a month, and 111,600 calories a year. Each pound of fat contains 3500 calories, so you’re burning the equivalent of 31 pounds each year simply by replacing six hours of sitting with six hours of standing.
I stand for 12+ hours a day now working on and gaming. That’s an extra 600 calories burned per day or 62 pounds per year.
Standing Desks will make you a better gamer
Standing increases the level of blood flow in your body thus making you more alert and focused. This will help you be more productive if you’re working and more focused while gaming!
But the benefits don’t stop there!
Standing desks dramatically reduce the chance of cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, diabetes.
From my own experience my standing desk has completely eliminated chronic lower back pain.
Awesome Infographic about the health risks of sitting(I won't wrap img tags around it so that it won't make this thread huge haha): http://www.thehealthygamer.com/wp-co...illing-you.png

I don't think so.
I'm 6'1" and 160lb and have not lost or gains more than 5lb in 30+ years.
Game that much @ on a good week + full time office cube work.
I also don't stand much anymore (But Server room work was all standing or on a bar-type stool for years) and it made my back and feet hurt.
Get up move around take the stairs etc though.

It burns calories because it's a lot of work, much of which is on minor muscle groups, to stand still. It actually takes less energy to walk than to stand still because your gait gives muscles a natural break, but standing keeps them engaged nearly constantly.
I think you'd be better off getting up to walk around every hour or two, and then eating a little less of those calorie laden smoothies you've got me hooked on. Once you put peanut butter and that flax stuff in it, it's so thick, you can't go back to the watery kind. OMG, not even standing can save me......
Haha I've moved more into less calorie dense smoothies myself. That sh*t can really add up when you start throwing everything into it. Now it's just some watermellon, frozen berries, flaxseed, protein and coconut milk.
But good point on the standing. You're constantly shifting your weight from leg to leg. People have this idea that at a standing desk you stand shock still, but it's a lot of very minute movements shifting weight around.
you can burn a lot more if you just go to the gym and do half an hour of cardio, gamers should go to the gym cause after you finish working out, your senses become more alert.
yours maybe, after a run I collapse like a jellyfish washed ashore. i don't even hit the couch cuz I'm so sweaty and gross. The various folk who live in my house occasionally check my pulse to make sure I have not yet expired. It takes ~30 minutes to run, ~30 minutes to recover.
