i think 1h+mojo is better if you can afford good gear due to doubling up on affixes vs just a 2h (its not like dh that get a quiver...). and ya, wd will be buffed a good deal.
I'm talking post-patch with an improved 2 hander, and the sacrifice dogs build that would depend on getting the most damage per doggy, a 2 hander would capitalize on that. Even with zombie bears a 2 hander is pretty sick, considering it takes big advantage of the high skill damage.
With the damage over time mechanics changing it might even be favorable to use a huge damage weapon with a locust type build... I'm just thinking outloud about potential options though!
currently my doc uses a veil piercer and a mojo with mana regen on them and his voodoo mask, so I understand the value of having those extra stat boosts from the offhand.
ya i know when you're talking about, i just dont agreethe dps of a 1h+mojo with good gear will be better still unless they up the int that a 2h can have, not to mention other mods a mojo can spawn with.
the caveat would be if they make 2h's total gg and make their dps like 1800+. I'm not sure the actual math break point but it'd have to be sick to compete.
if I am mistaken and zd dont take into account mojo dmg (which they should imo) then please disregard and inform me!
That's fine if you don't agree, but I'm going to do some math here in this little white box.
Imagine if you had an 1100 dps viel piercer with 1.4 attacks per second, so no IAS. now, that's about 785 damage per attack on average. Say you have a mojo with 100-350 damage, so that's an average of 225.
So on average with these 2 things equipped, you deal 1010 base damage damage per attack, and you can do it quickly.
Say you now have a 1300 dps dread lance, with 0.95 attacks per second. that's an average of almost 1370 base damage per attack. Now, you attack more slowly but you do big time damage. With critical damage you benefit even more because you're applying the increased % of damage to a higher base number.
A 1300 dps dreadlance with about 200 intelligence costs like 1 million gold.
A 1100 dps viel piercer with intelligence or a socket is going to cost like 30 million.
A mojo with decent stats and an average of 200+ damage is going to be 1)hard to find and 2)expensive.

This stuff right here does some ridiculous damage compared to my viel piercer/mojo set up, and i just bought the dread lance to see how it was going to work out. Perhaps a slower higher damage 1-h would be a better option, but this would be a great option for a lower budget player.
Back to the topic, I am probably going to continue to farm at first. I did manage to snag up some weapon crafting patterns that were dirt cheap a couple of weeks ago. Looks like that might pay out in spades. So, farm until patch for crafting mats, craft some stuff and farm more after patch. I will probably hold onto a coupe of cheaper high damage two handers until I see what exactly they are doing, but I imagine the first week will be chaos to trade. Could be a huge boon for me, then again it could be just alright.
Softcore Evaluator
Definitely farm.
I took a risk and decided to do a stash clearance (sold set/legendary items/mostly rares) and given the current situation I'm glad I did.
Made about 30m in profits, should be more than sufficient enough for me.
trade, always. why be a slave to a rng?
Because every now and then the rng is good to you and you get items worth 20m, 30m, maybe more, especially with the new powerful and hyped legendaries. These are items you didn't have to invest gold or money in, just time. Time is of course no less valuable, but whenever your slots are full you can either farm or look for bargains - whatever is more fun to you. I like doing both but they both get boring if you don't alternate between them, at least for most people.
Still, during the initial madness I'll probably trade more since I'm generally not very lucky with random numbers.
i presumed the question was a mathematical one; time in ----> $ out, farming vs trading.
no question unless you're running multiples/bots/??? trading>farming.
