So yeah, just a few minutes ago, Bash just posted a sticky on the official forums pertaining to the status of patch 1.04.
Basically, the post is just a summary of what they will be talking about "soon"TM ... An update of an update on the update
But hey, I'll take it! So this is pretty much it. Kinda anxious about this; if they screw this up, I'm un-installing and moving on.
The Diablo III developers have been hard at work on some exciting new features and updates for the game. Many of you have asked for more details, and we're busily preparing several developer blogs filled with information on what's coming in patch 1.0.4. In the meantime, here's an overview of the information we're planning to share here on the Diablo III community site in the not-too-distant future.
Please keep in mind that this list isn't set in stone, but it should provide a useful preview of what we'll be revealing in the days ahead.
System Changes, by Wyatt Cheng
Senior Technical Game Designer Wyatt Cheng is preparing a high-level summary of some of the system changes planned for 1.0.4.
Legendary Item Improvements, by Andrew Chambers
Senior Game Designer Andrew Chambers is working on a blog detailing all the ways we’re making Legendary items stand out.
Magic Find Update, by Jay Wilson
Following up on earlier discussions, Game Director Jay Wilson will be providing an update on how Magic Find is evolving in patch 1.0.4.
Class Changes, by Wyatt Cheng
Wyatt will also be providing a preview of the changes we’ll be making for each class in 1.0.4 (and the philosophy behind those changes).
Patch Notes, by Lylirra
Of course, this is all building up to the actual patch 1.0.4 release, and we’ll be releasing the full patch notes shortly before the update goes live.
We're also planning to run some interviews and developer chats surrounding patch 1.0.4, and we’ll be sharing those on the Diablo III front page. Be on the lookout, as we'd love to get you involved in any live chats we host.
As always, your constructive feedback is very much appreciated. Stay tuned for the updates to follow!
Seems like 1.04 will be pretty game changing.
I say hold on to your gold/money and avoid buying anything from the AH for now.
Reminds me when some of the SC2 teams would make announcements about them announcing a new player pick-up in the future. Eventually it was stopped because the community was finding it pretty obnoxious
At least now the D3 team recognises that D3 has a lot of failures and are going to discussing their changes to improve some of the main areas throughly. There's more wrong with the game than what they're going into but it will be a big good step towards fixing it and I'm quite excited for it
Ehm I don't want to be a party breaker but exactly how much are you guys expecting from 1.04 ? This is a serious question.
My point being is that 0.0.x patches are reserved for minor things as far as blizzard is concerned. There never was something game-turning patched in a blizzard game in a 0.0.x patch, ever.
D3 is not like Firefox where new version is available every second month. Patch 1.0.x could contain more than minor things.
PvP was announced for patch 1.1
Another fixes and patches will be then 1.1.x
I expect expansion for patch like 2.0.x
It makes sense. At least to me
What a sad (D3) world we are living in. After 10 years of hunting Uniques in D2 and a slew of other Unique item systems in RPG's to learn from, a blue post boasts about how someone is thinking about making Legendary items stand out.
Folks, D3 was not invented in a vaccuum, but it might as well have been, for all that it took from its great predecessor and rivals. And this post is yet another in a long string of insults from Blizzard. That sentance shows exactly what they take us for: a bunch of salivating idiots who are go into multiple fist-pump salvos each time they announce that they're thinking about doing something ... but that something is something that should have been done long before the release.
I believe that the people making this game not only have their hands tied by the edicts that Activision hands down to them, but that they themselves are a bunch of B-grade incompetent programmers with no vision.
They'll be revealing stuff they're thinking about doing in the days ahead (to the end of time?) but nothing is set in stone yet.
And i should be excited for some reason right. Wrong.
Actually, I just spent all my non-HC gold on Brimstones just minutes after the announcement. They were at 147k. I'm hoping the boost in uniques/legendary will drive their prices... Besides, if they screw this patch anyways, I'm done so what do I care about that gold (and I don't use the RMAH since I ain't got an Iphone or w/e to "secure" my account).

A post about upcoming posts. It reminds me of when I worked for the government and we would have meetings about our upcoming meetings.
I am just worried I lost the fire for diablo3. I stopped playing a 2 weeks ago and I honestly have lost the desire to even log on anymore. And I was one of the most staunch defenders of the game and still am I really enjoy the gameplay aspect of d3. I have started playing other games and having just as much fun and with Borderlands2 on the horizon I expect that will take up much of my time for awhile. Especially considering the hours I have invested in borderlands.
Hopefully this patch delivers and gives me a great game to come back to but my expectations are not especially since this preview has said nothing about drop changes. Unless I read into the gameplay changes part. I am crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.
