Is there any good guide for this? Im usually lazy when I play so I prefer a lot of defense so I basically can stand in arcane beams and such and still survive. Currently Im going with 800-900ar, 13k dmg, 700loh, 8000armor, 40k hp and playing act 1 (buffed). With these stats I can pretty much walk around in all the elemental dmg and still do decent dmg. Something like that is what I wanna be able to do in act2, and prob later on even act 3 (when Im rich enough). Any suggestions on what to aim for? Any specific legendarys that are good (SS or string of ears mb)?
There's nothing terribly special about gearing that kind of barb for A3. You just want more, more, more. More armor, more res, more hp, a little more damage. If you want to use Overpower (Crushing advance) to help you tank desecrate, fire chains, molten, plague, and electrified you'll need to obtain some crit chance gear to be able to refresh it.
If you're interested in standing still and attacking, you'll probably want the following:
Stormshield: The stats that matter on it are block and dmg reduction from elites. Aim for 5% reduction from elites and as close to 32% block as you can afford.
Justice Lantern: Massive boost to your block, but will usually have little else. You're still looking at around 5 mill for the cheapest one.
The Helm of Command: Look for as much all resist as you can afford on it and ideally strength and armor. This is the cheapest of the lot.
All together, these three can give you up to 51% block, which goes a very long way towards reducing incoming damage.
Beyond that, you just need to stack strength for dps and armor, All resist as high as you can muster, and Armor if you can squeeze it in. For reference, I started act 2 inferno with 1350 all resist, 10k armor, 36% block, and about 10k dps. I ended up having to sacrifice a lot of defensive stats to get enough dps to be able to kill stuff. Now I'm in act 4 with a more balanced 17k dps, 1250 all resist, 51% block, 11k armor, 1230 loh. I still have a hard time standing still and tanking some packs in act 4 if they have more than one nasty affix. I suspect with the nerfing of elite packs in 1.0.4, I'll be able to manage a bit better. I'm starting to experiment with stacking fire resist on top of all my gear, because the multitude of fire affixes are causing me the most trouble at the moment. I'm still undecided on the effect.
