SHORT VERSION:
I'm in my early twenties and I currently play an Ice Sorceress in Single Player. Hello!!
---
LONG VERSION:
I was looking for an introduction thread like some other forums seem to have, but here it seems like everybody is so special that they must make their own introduction topicSo, here I am!
At the time of this post (August 2012), I'm in my early twenties. I was interested in Diablo II when it was first released but didn't purchase it at the time. I rediscovered it a couple of years ago and made my first serious character (I think v.1.12) and finished the Normal difficulty.
Last month, I made another character, an Ice Sorceress (currently Level 33), that is virtually identical to my first one, except that I depend on a staff for Teleport. I'm currently on the last quest in Normal - I'm waiting to stock up on Full Rejuvenation Potions before I fight the final boss. (And I hit a slight snag when I realized that I allocated my stat points all wrong, and claimed my reset from Akara. I feel like such a crook![]()
)
I like Single Player a lot more than Battle.Net (tried it for an hour and didn't like it) because I'm a solitary person and player by nature (I don't even use a mercenary, because I feel that the game is more "mine" if my character goes through it all by herself). I'm sure I would have played by myself there anyway, and I greatly dislike the idea of losing characters after they're killed off. I don't want to work so hard on developing a character and not even have a backup of it! (My first character wasn't hardcore, but every time she died, I would reload a backup file. Because I found the idea of my character recovering a corpse of herself to be kind of disturbing)
I think I'm somewhat unusual because unlike a lot of people here (from the posts I've seen, anyway) I don't plan on getting to Level 99, or beating all three difficulties (although that would be nice), or getting specific runewords or set items or anything like that (I just pick up whatever magical/rare/set/unique equipment I find and "upgrade" if I find it suitable). My main goals are to find all my preferred Unique equipment and to get to Level 49 so I can max out Frozen Orb. And maybe finish Nightmare, but that's not too important to me. (Compared to most of you, I'm really not very ambitious) (And I don't know if anybody does this, but I create a backup of my file each time I reach a new level. Does anybody else do this?
)
I really like this forum because it's very nice to able to read posts from people who like the game as much as I doPlus, here I can celebrate little victories (I got both Chance Guards and Tarnhelm from Gheed, within a day of each other!
) and you guys will understand much more than my friends, who (to my knowledge) don't play Diablo II. Yay for forums!
In conclusion, I'm glad to be here and I'd like to say hello to you all. Hello!!

Well then be welcome here.
*Hands out legendary shinguard of protection*
You will need them.
It sounds like you are having a lot of fun - I might be to enthusiastic but i think once you are level 49 you will want to take it further - Hell is where the fun really starts they say. Anyhow - making back ups with every level up seems bothersome and odd - but you are in good company here we are all a little odd.
So i hope you will have a lot of fun - ingame and here - and hopefully you will have loads of little victories - those are the once that make you ambitious enough to aim for the big stuff.
To make it short - a warm welcome to the Hotel California SPF.
Welcome! I can't agree more that the game gets really good at exactly level 50 and onwards, so we'll have to convince you to keep going. Join a tournament or something
Good luuuuuuck
Welcome to the SPF
* hands out EU double legendary shin guards of the whale*
(mr teach, you are supposed to kick his shins, not protect them)
Make sure to read the sticky. It describes very much what the SPF is and has a lot of great guides. And feel free to post any questions/stories you feel for. We love them all.
And make sure to hit the bar for a drink. Talk in there is crazy, don't mind the spammers. It is our OT thread.
Welcome!
I particularly like your use of smiley faces, but you probably could have used more.
Play the game how you want to. I like this forum because a lot of people post updates of how their characters are progressing. Feel free to keep us up to date in this thread how your sorc is progressing.
Watch out for your shins.
Welcome, funny introduction post!
Gheed must really like you!
Yey, another awkwardly solitary person, I'm not alone!
Points for spotting the irony...
Welcome

Welcome!
*steals EU shin guards before they can be equipped*
*unleashes lashing tail kick upon shins*
welcome!
I forgot to mention, I expect regular pettingz.

Thank you all for the kind welcome!!Shins seem to be pretty important here, so I will gladly accept (cough STEAL BACK cough) the protective gear XD And I'm still trying to figure out tournaments (I read the main thread explaining how to host/run one, but I don't think I found out what tournaments actually are... My current theory is several independent Single Players and screenshots of them.)
I tried to keep my introduction short (looks like it didn't work, though!), but there was so much other stuff that I could have said, like my backups thing (the way I see it... sure, I can defeat Mephisto easily now, but if sometime I want to feel again the thrill of defeating him for the first time, I could go to the appropriate lower-level file and do it all over again XD Or I could go back to my Level 30 file if for some reason I want to try Blizzard instead of Frozen Orb) and other past frustrations (DURIEL. And Kurast. Those little things were so annoying!). So I like the idea of writing in this thread about my Sorceress. It'll probably be like talking to myself, but I do that in real life as well, so...) I may write some back entries, just to be able to start from the "beginning." For a player who's never gotten past Normal (wow, that makes it sound like I've had a whole bunch of characters XD), I have a lot of stupid little things I can mention. (For example: for both of those files, I had to ENCOUNTER FIRST, and kill, a Zombie or Quill Rat - preferably a Zombie - in Blood Moor, before killing anything else. In short, not a Fallen. If I went out to Blood Moor and saw a Fallen first, I would exit the game and copy and paste my backup file. Why? Because there weren't any Fallen in Blood Moor in the version I played ten years ago, that's why! >=D)
Aaaaand... this craziness has probably driven away my potential future audience. (Frankly, I don't blame you. I'd run away from me too if I could!)
