Help me pick a Character?

Quit months ago and I'm back to play D3 fresh

I am thinking playing as a Monk, but I don't know if the Monk is ****ty or not? I will mostly farm gold, in Inferno but is the Monk good to play Inferno? I know all class are good when you have the LOADS of GOLD. But overal what is the best Character to play? Also, if I do pick the Monk how much gold do I need to spend approximatly you say to past ACT 1-4 in Inferno?

Can you guys list me the top 5 characters to play with?
I played a Wizard before btw.

Also, I am not picking DH, because everyone plays it... :@)

Really really appreciated if you could help me

All of them are viable. Play what is most fun to you if you want to play for a while.

The only caveat is that the Witch Doctor is a little more pidgeonholed on build and gear at the moment. When 1.04 comes out, this may be fixed though so if you like the WD, don't be afraid to play it.

Yep, I always knew the WD was the ****test out of the rest. Like I said the more gold spent on any char it will become CHuck Norris. Also, I don't like the WD anyways :(

I really want to play as Monk, but I want some tips and suggestion from the community if its worth picking

I believe more monks and barbarians have killed inferno Diablo than any other classes. That being said, all of them have done it. I believe monks have two viable builds and have some flexibility in those. You can use a shield and go tanky or dual wield fast one handers to generate spirit with life on spirit spent builds.

I think the problem is that there is just not much to discuss. Most threads end up in the same back and forth about what is right/wrong with the game and how it should/shouldn't be fixed. Most of them are just rehashes of what has been said before. People are even losing enthusiasm for having the same discussions over and over.

In short, I think it's just the eye of the storm. We're waiting for 1.04 and there is not enough news to spark conversation about the progress of that patch.

Monk is pretty easy, and cheap to make viable for act1 inferno, just stack; (1)res, crit, and use FoT + 2 defensive skills... and that's about it.

My monk wears 3 cheap legendaries, and all self-found or less than 300k on AH. I do the "classic" run (cemetery, wood, halls,) in roughly a half hour without any problem what so ever.
