This is pretty cryptic stuff, even for you, Bob.
I'll vote + on global warming. I was always a believer in that.
OMG! I heard about that from... someone. Yeah, I was/am worried about 'em.

so true, but alas, I have to stay on topic. (chimpy is on vacay)

But I'm not sure I am comfortable saying that the earthquake was caused by global warming, nor am i comfortable saying that we have any good idea about what percentage of the warming is caused by humans. There are so many moving parts and everything you read is so politicized, i struggle to trust any of it.
I don't even like the idea of "global warming", since it's not really about temperature, but about climate change. Climate change is inevitable, and certainly we have some level of effect on it. If the effect is really small, then we should be more worried about predicting how the climate will change, and adapting. Perhaps we'll need improvements in certain technologies. it would be great to have a head start on things like this for the survival of the species.
If the effect is large we have to ask, are we making changes we want? Is there a way to be more strategic? Can we really make enough changes in our societies to even change course (assuming we want to?) Again, we need more accurate predictions, and some type of cost benefit analysis done. Would warming make more land arable? what would ideal climate look like? can we make local changes to make our climate more conducive to humans? If the changes are bad, what changes could we really make without destroying the economy? Is the timescale on climate change so long that it doesn't matter?
*sigh*
-.-
fine! I guess I'll stay on topic....

yes, the world is warming up but is ALL of it due to pollution and what not? We contribute to it, but I don't think it is entirely our fault. Maybe it's just me being naive. *smirk*
Global warming +
Man-made global warming &
I refuse to vote on anything which isn't subject to the poll bug.

So have you seen the Midwest Fish Fry that's going on?
In Local Weather Patterns.
The city of Los Angeles kept municipal pools open through the weekend and encouraged residents without air conditioning to use recreation buildings as "cooling centers."
Those who could get out of town did. Water spots from lakes to rivers to beaches — and highways leading to them — were packed Saturday with people seeking heat relief.
George Medici, a Los Angeles public relations executive, drove an hour north to beat the heat at a coastal golf course in Oxnard, Calif. Even with gas at $4 a gallon, it was well worth it, he said.
"It was 106 degrees when I left the (San Fernando) Valley," he said. "Here's it's 79. It's a pretty wild thing."
