    Re: Show off your monk!

Figured I would post my guy here for the record: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/J...6/hero/2646507

    http://d3up.com/b/518181

I also figured this would be a good place to post a link to D3UP which is awesome for understanding how your individual pieces of gear contribute to your survivability and damage. It also allows you to "simulate" gear to understand what effects a prospective purchase may be worth it or not or to just understand what stats you need on a particular item to "finish" your build or hit a specific target.

Been working on improving my monk. Crafted the gloves today. The amulet has the wrong resist, because its self found.

Mine isn't especially notable (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/m...7/hero/1575373), but I like the way she looks:

@ jeremyrx: That's an interesting skill-set you have there. I might try it out. It's a bit similar to mine, but I haven't used cyclone strike much.

@SnickerSnack: She sure is sexy...did you make her pants invisible? What MP do you usually farm in?

For my build, Mantra of Evasion:Backlash is awesome in keeping me alive above MP7 (I generally farm MP8 efficiently and MP9 for a challenge) as every time I dodge (which when surrounded is all the time) I get a huge amount of life back from the LS on my weapons (your DPS may be a bit low to get as big of a benefit from this rune but it's worth a shot). Cyclone Strike is useful for three things for me: pulling everyone close to help trigger Backlash to proc, clumping everyone up to increase the damage and spirit generation each attack is doing (since it hits more targets per strike), and lastly it allows me to pull elites to me and away from molten, plagued, desecrator which are the only things that really kill me below MP10.

I would love to be able to use BF:FitL but with my DPS where it is I find I really need Serenity to survive the bigger damage spikes. After all you do 0 DPS when you are dead.

Pretty much one of my best character, dumped most of my wealth into it. I have crafted a couple of nice items. I would like to improve on my weapons but I seem to have trouble improving upon those two (finding another one with life steal). I ma currently roaming MP7, I haven't try any higher. I am presently trying to craft a better ammy, shoulder, glove, bracer. I am alternating the crafting between those items. This is getting costly. Also, I certainly could improve my resistances, life steal is all very well but sometimes high resistances cannot be replaced.

I did make them invisible. They just looked too bulky, and I also am using a chest armor that is not quite as good as the best one I have, but I'm using it for aesthetics.

MP choices have been odd lately. I've recently moved my barbarian into farming mp7 more-or-less comfortably, and now my monk is pretty comfy in mp5. She used to only do mp3 easily and I've only added the Inna's pants (not invisible yet) that I found about a week or so ago. She may even be able to survive MP6 okay.

Although her dps is quite a bit lower than the barb's, her ehp was significantly higher, but I have since raised the barb's ehp to be the best among my characters. My barb is plvl 51 now, so he gets plenty of rares and set/legs, but I have put some time into getting plvls for my monk. I've settled into a pretty good build/routine with my barbarian for farming, and I can't stand to play the same thing hour after hour, so the monk is a good secondary character for me. I've also added a good 25% to my WD's dps and some to his ehp without even taking him out for a spin. I wonder what mp level he'll be on next. I don't play Wiz or DH much.

I used to use MoE: Backlash, but I've been using Overawe exclusively for more killspeed. I'll give those skills another go.

Just got some major legendary drops last night. Using dodge based tanking build. Holds up in at least torment 2 well.

    Re: Show off your monk!

Finished leveling my monk to 60 once 2.0 hit, and decided to make him my main for RoS. I've picked up some +Fire Damage items so my build has moved in that direction. I was using Cyclone Strike + Exploding Palm, but after picking up a Gyana Na Kashu last night, Lashing Tail Kick will be my primary spirit spender.

Loving the monk class so far
