Wireless Access Point is how we Americans think of it as thats the name of the Device that turns your one of your wired connections into a wireless local broadcast network (please encript access and change passwords once in a while).
Wireless Application Protocol is the real meaning but see the links
    LOL

    Wireless Application Protocol

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not to be confused with Wireless access point.

One of the WAP Devices in my link above runs $40 to $250 depending on version and features.

See your connecting devices Wireless network settings for compatibility

    I use linksys/cisco 8.11G/N device myself.

If you have a wired connection this gives you wireless at that location.

    Like Starbucks or Airports?

Telephones are overrated. I'm sure we will be back to the good old "2 cups plus a cord" ones soon.

Maybe I can explain. The gizmo you bought is probably fine, and it'll let you move your computer. so good.

If you're not going to move the computer, you could go faster for about the same money, and get the intarwebs from the cable company. Since you don't like complicated, ignore all that jazz about wireless.

If though you have other internet-liking devices, the wireless is handy and you can ad it to the cable internet with one of these:

As far as whether or not you got a good buy, I'd say if you have a laptop that goes outside your house, you made a great buy. If you don't take it outside you still won't notice, but you could have gone faster. So good buy, and probably not wasting much/any money. Since you probably won't notice, no worries.

have a beer and for fun, get your money's worth in the gif thread.

Hey! I remember one of those things from back when I was younger! But yea, it is working with no complaints. I went back to the store hoping to find a better employee than the first guy I met and it seems that across the street from my apartment there is one of their towers that broadcast the signal, so that is nice.

And Flintstones Phone... Yabba Dabba Do, I like talking to you

Just don't Pay for Verizons Plans anymore People.

Verizon Offers High-Use Data Plans, Inadvertently Points Out Enormous Rip-Off

Thursday, August 09, 2012 - by Joel Hruska
Six weeks ago, Verizon launched its new "Share Everything" data plans, declaring that everyone would henceforth use these plans or be banned from upgrading their phones at a discount, and unveiled a suite of options that range from $50 for 1GB to $100 for 10GB (not counting per-device fees). Unlimited talk and text is now baked into the per-device base fee, which means that users with minimal data needs could actually benefit from a swap.

Now, the company has admitted that its usage plans stretch higher, though these plans are usually offered on customer support lines or in the event of overages. Verizon will sell you 12GB of data for $110, 14GB for $120, 16GB for $130, 18GB for $140, and 20GB of data per month for $150. If that sounds like a staggering amount of data, keep in mind that the plan is for a shared group of devices -- you can chew up considerably more data if you use devices in parallel or have multiple family members all viewing HD content.

I want Google Fiber like in KC

Screw data plan charges, 20gb for 150$? At&t gives a max at like 3Gb and then a 10 buck charge for every time you go over .5gb after that. Learned that lesson the hard way when I got my new phone.
