Just thought I would write it somewhere
I've tried using it in replacement of FoT but it's not viable unless I'm overgeared for that particular act.
I should add that fist of fury rune (FoF) double procs on WotHF (LoH, on hit effects like cyclone ...etc).
Pros and Cons vs FoT:
Pros
- All attacks AoE, larger AoE then FoT. Higher Dmg modifier. 3rd hit has an even larger AoE i believe.
- AoE damage does 140% to all monsters in the AoE. FoT only do ~35% to the smaller AoE. Much higher AoE damage output
- All attacks double proc (FoT only double procs off main target, AoE damage single procs)
- 3rd hit knocks back farther then FoT's 3rd hit.
Cons
- Slower attack, mitigating the proc + dmg bonus somewhat. Also slower spirit generation
- 2nd hit locks you in place for a brief instance, VERY annoying.
- No teleport.
- less knockback lockdown viability due to slower attack speed
Basically FoT has more mobility and responsiveness (huge), faster spirit generation. More spirit also translates into more damage, mitigation and/or healing (aura overboost uptime ...etc)
FoF has far greater AoE power, and greater proc power the more mobs there are (giant hordes + FoF cyclone + LoH is pretty crazy). For single target FoT has better proc power, break even is roughly 3 mobs (observational, no numbers were crunched, which would change based on base APS stat anyway). Since packs are the most dangerous, FoT doesn't lose out on proc power often vs FoF against most packs.
Note: % life leech works with sweeping wind + cyclones. Try herding a big hoard together say on A3 battlefield, hopefully no Arcane enchanted with heavy CC or those shield mode monsters (no amount of LoH or leech can mitigate 4 beams raping you or if you're being knockback locked), with some leech % + LoH you can be pretty much tank most of everything else.
