    Hardcore Progression Benchmark

    Hi All

    I've decided to share the stats of my character as he makes his way through hardcore ; I'll edit his level, armor, life, damage and weapon dps as he reaches (and kills) each boss of the game.
    This will give every new player hints of what is necessary to achieve the various parts of the game.

    I play a Barbarian, I play solo, no rush and my follower is the Enchantress.
    I equip myself with my artisan (armors), ingame merchants (armors sometimes but mainly rings and amulets) and drops of course. I also use gems (flawless square) and various stuff collected by my previous, but alas dead, characters.
    From time to time, I buy some stuff in the Gold-AH, mainly weapons ; so I'll publish the amount of gold I've spent in the AH too. As you can see, you can farewell from Normal to Hell with a very low budget.

    End of story, my char died at level 57 to a lava/desecrator champion pack, during Hell - Act 2 - Quest 8, not very far from Zoltum Kull.

    STILL ALIVE...AND LEVELING.

    This is the progession table of my new HC Barbarian character, the famous "ecrasemouche" son of "yenamarre".

    I know this is for a HC character but i was wondering percent-wise where is a safe spot for armor? obviously it matters less with normal characters and on easier difficulties. Should armor percent always be above 25%, 50%, 75%.

    And on that idea i've heard people say resistance isnt that important until Hell or Inferno but what is the lowest acceptable number there? its something i largely ignored until getting to Hell and have no idea how much catching up i have to do.

    I play normal, not hardcore. But in my experience playing a barb, stacking Vitality and ignoring resistances completely worked up until the end of Hell. I had 50-55k hp and very rarely died. Then came to Inferno Act 1 and got smacked back into reality and had to get all new gear with several hundred resists.

    Obviously for HC it will be much better to have some earlier on, in the beginning of Hell. However normal through nightmare you can pretty much negate the need for resists in place of high life.

    But again, if playing HC, especially a melee class, do not even attempt the first initial monsters of Inferno unless you've got at least ~300 all resist. In my experience, Physical, Fire, and Arcane are the most important resists.
