    I sold a belt

    I sold a belt.

it had: (stats are guesses but pretty close, it'd be nice to be able to see the stats on completed AH trades.)

    +53 Dexterity
    +98 Vitality
    +78 All Resist
    +300 armor
    +220 Life Regen

I thought it would be hard to sell. Sure its got what you need especially the near perfect 78 AR. But, as i do, I thought to myself how would i end up buying this item. We've only got 3 search fields so you better use them wisely. When buying I generally use all three fields to narrow the field and to find more specifically what I want, no surprise here.
So one would be looking for AR and LR at these values that's all well and good.

But who searches for 50+ dex? (or would you leave the qty fields blank?) Anyone searching for Dex 80+ would miss my belt.

Do people search for Vit? With 3 search fields I usually go for primary stat and search the results for something with Vit as well.

Armor? I wont use a field for this because you can sort by it in the results or at least the +Armor items are quite easily identifiable by scanning the armor column.

So obviously this is probably the most boring thread you've read in a while but I'm genuinely interested in why this belt sold for 2m. I certainly wouldn't buy it for that much. I only priced it like that cos I've had trouble selling recently and noticed that belts with 75+ AR sold for many millions, i had a few slots open and thought 'what the hey'.

Is the AR stat worth that much at near perfect? Did I just get lucky? Is it just a combination of 1 great, 3 decent, 1 average stats? Did i price too low?

I'm a novice trader so I'm just looking to further my knowledge.

i would guess the life regen or AR as the dex/vit clearly don't stand out at all. maybe they buyer did "AR = 75" and your belt popped up and the dex/vit rest was just a bonus for them?

Person probably searched 70+ AR, 200+ LR and 90+ vit. He looked around and saw yours with the most extra stats on top of those for the price. The most common way people search for better-than-filter gear, is to pick the three things, and then just browse through items quickly looking for ones with a fourth stat that they care about.

IMO this is a pretty nice PvP belt (reg/AR/ARM/vit) and I would prolly buy it as well, depending on the price, i think a lot of players, including myself, star to collect loot for PvP, which is heavily under-priced right now, just my thoughts...

Yeah, i've since done a bit of research into these types of items (50+ Dex/int w/ good other stats), mostly on items under 2m though. I don't think my price was too far out though. Do you think you could get 4-5m for it?

Someone may go for this belt if they are trying to up their defence for act2/3 but don't want to take a huge backward step in terms of dps.

So thats been my thing. Looking at belts, shoulders, chests and pants with 77+ AR. 220+ LR (400 for chests) and 50+ dex/int hoping an inexperianced player would underprice for the low primary stat and miss the 1-2 other stats like Armor, elemenal resist, life %. . .etc that can turn a 100k item to a 1m item for a more experienced player.

This, indiretly, all revolves around the inability to search for more than 3 stats which is soon to change. It will be interesting to see what happens here.

It seems that if an item is priced properly, someone will find it and buy it even with crappy search parameters. It'll be harder to get its full value, but people WILL find it. People who can't find anything good for a reasonable price go out of their way to find items that are worth it for them. Your only real job is to make sure that when they do find your item, they will decide it's worth buying and not diss it as another piece of overpriced junk.

    Re: I sold a belt

I search for life steal, strength, resist all.
Then manually sort the found results for vitality and other stats..
its a pain,. but i wont bother again until 1.0.4
