    Re: All-time low

go read what i wrote - ppl will be surprised at how much they're making and i presumed the would talk about it in the conference call. they didn't, but that doesn't mean i'm wrong.

what i DO know is how much they're making off of me, and its well past 1k now. thats a lot of revenue off of ONE user. and i also KNOW i am not alone; there are a lot of people doing as well and many many more doing much better. 1b gold sold on the rmah is ~275$ revenue for bliz, and i know lots of people who have sold billions.

    anecdotal evidence, sure.

Wrong, wrong and wrong. If it was a significant revenue stream, is Vivendi really going to keep it secret considering they are trying to sell actiblizz?!

Your posts are just bursting with condescending statements and obnoxious bragging that nobody cares about, but when it comes to specifics you got nothing. How do you know that blizzard makes $275 on each billion sold, for example? They make $150, then the next chunk goes to paypal, or do you have some inside information about how that 15% cashout fee is split? And items are only subject to a $1 fee before the transfer fee.

How about you post something worth reading, like some useful information. Start with how many people you know that sell large amounts of gold, at what rate they are selling etc. During the last week for example I had 100m hanging around on RMAH at all times and only 30m total sold.

    BACK ON TOPIC.....: /

IMO, Blizzard has this one chance with the 1.0.4 patch if it wants to hook back players, if they mess that up, Diablo 3 is dead. Actually a game cannot die, i mean people will still play it for some years to come but that charm and longevity that Diablo 2 had is really hard to catch now.
The biggest misunderstanding on Blizz's part was that they thought that DIABLO 3 would be the ONLY game that people will ever play again and that nothing could compete with this Monster of a game, well sorry to burst your bubble Blizz, you were wrong. They shouldn't have tried to cash in on the Diablo name. They would have been better of with a new IP.
Once people are fed up they won't come back and as Azzure wrote, PvP already seems to suck.
The success of Diablo 2 depends ALSO on the fact that around that time, there were no games of it's caliber. Titan Quest came along and stole some of D2's light, and people still call it "The Best Diablo 2 Clone" to date. D2 did some things great that kept it ahead of the competition.
Diablo 3 however is a regression, and is up against some very SICK and SCARY competition, i.e : Torchlight 2, PoE, Grim Dawn (Diablo 3 Killer), and other replayable games that offer much more than a RMAH such as Darksiders 2 etc.
If you think that these games cannot be better than Diablo 3, then you are a fanboi. Diablo 3 will be dead in a year and will be revived by the Expansion if it is done right.

hard to say. what they reveal to suitors and to investors likely differs so i'm not sure the two are at all linked. either way your 'wrong wrong wrong' is based on nothing and adds no value. how much they make IS salient to both investors and suitors; how and when it is disclosed is not as important as the fact that it is...

i know people who have sold billions of gold, your 130m sold or unsold is not relevant to that fact.

and you're right, i rushed without actually doing the math. 1b gold sells for 2500$. bliz immediately takes 15% and an additional 15% when it moves to paypal. gold is not an item so the 1$ fee you mention is meaningless. I do not know how much they make in profit, but their revenue is clear.

the mistake i made understated the value - 1b gold is 2500$ on the rmah, which translates into roughly 693$ per billion in revenue for bliz.

as for bragging and condescension, **** you. i stated what i have done and what i know others have done, if that is not helpful to you then move on.
