Hello,
First of all, let me congratulate you on the wonderful, insightful and helpful community you've built! Its spirit and my wish to somehow be a part of it are why I'm having the dilemma in the first place.
Like I do every year, once again I've taken up playing Diablo 2. This is the first time, though, I've played this much and taken a character through hell; also, the first time I spent a considerable amount of time reading about it - i.e. seeing how much there is to it really!
The trouble started when, drawing from previous experience, I decided I didn't want to torture myself with limited stash size (I've always loved doing countless runs, which, of course translates into a significant amount of items). Unfortunately, not having heard of muling programs, I installed a certain mod that, let's say, plugs the hole in the stash size problem. With that done, I was, once again, merrily... casting left and right
Then, a couple of weeks in, I discovered this forum, and to my surprise - a single player trading section! Needless to say, when I read the rules, my heart sank. I was well into Hell, doing Meph runs, hoarding equipment like a madman... Well, like any Diablo player, really.
I asked myself if I wanted to trade at all. I concluded that the "endgame" in Diablo for me was the item hunt (although, I must say, the various tournaments here seem quite fun! Oh, the grail!). Besides, how hard could it be to find the necessary components for, let's say, an Enigma?
Well, hundreds of hours in, well over a thousand LK runs, 600-700 Meph/Andy/Pindle runs, have made me realise just how wrong I was
Now, ideally, I would still prefer the self-found way, but I simply don't have the time for itI guess stating my "goals" would be useful here: I've seen a couple of youtube videos staring a javazon and a light sorc (Silospen's and Denton's, respectively, if I'm not mistaken) - I'd like to have chars comparable to theirs. LOL, I know
This would be quite a feat to accomplish self-found. Well, for me - not for many of you, I guess.
Anyway, I've since realised that usefulness of programs like GoMule far surpasses the mod's, so I really see no point in using it but for the equipment I found and the hours I put in to find it. My sorceress has been teleporting so much, the Doctor would seem like an amateur spacetime traveler
I really want to build a javazon next. I'm growing tired of the sorc (nothing a short break wouldn't fix) and the thought of having to build a new one (for the sake of equiping other chars) makes me just want to give up. So, I see two possible roads to take:
1. Total restart. Now, this would be much more bearable if I could keep my sorc. If I deleted every piece of equipment she ever found, so just keeping her lvl basically, would she be allowed here? This way I could reequip her using the items I would find with my new javazon.
2. Continue as is. Keep the wealth.
Now, the number of items I would be losing is considerable, of course, but nothing anyone here is not familiar with. I'll just name a few I am most happy with:
- all runes up to and including Ber
- Tal's set minus the armor (the same for IK)
- Two Ocy (Ist'd), an SoJ, dozen skillers (including a couple of cold sorc ones), 40% MF Gheed's, HotO RW, all of the usual MF gear (Shako, War Travs, Chance Guards), Arachnid Mesh, near perfect Vipermagi, Andy's Visage, G's face, Vampiregaze, etc.
- Many things that would be useful for a javazon: Titan's, Thunderstroke, Razortail, lower resist charges, etc.
Then again, there are a lot of items I have no use for, which could be traded or just given away, if not for the mod. This is something I would be able to do if I decided to restart. Also, I could share my experiences and not feel like I'm doing something illegal (xD) while doing so. For instance, when my Ber dropped, or when two Guls dropped from adjacent chests - that was funOr my ongoing search for a socketed Monarch (found one with 3 sockets, and a white one, which, when socketed using the cube recipe, gave only one socket xD). I might just partake in the grail hunting - just for the fun of it.
Sorry for the long post. Your opinions, criticisms, etc. are most welcome. I realise that ultimately this is a matter of personal preference, but I would very much like to make an informed decision this time around.
Thanks!
I'm not the single player spokesperson here, but I think the only option you have if you want to trade here is to start over, delete everything. The quality of your post would suggest that you're not just a random, untrustable bnet kiddy, you'll fit in here. I don't know the SP rules about this, you'd better double check with the SP community.
And looking at your gear, there is nothing super rare you have that would be worth not starting over. The Ber and SoJ are kinda rare, but definately not unfindable (again). If I were in your shoes, I would definately start over here.
You should repost this in the SP forum, see what they advice you:

Reposted, as you suggested.
Thank you for answering. While I haven't gotten the answer I was wishing for, your post is encouraging.
Well, I am starting to realize the items were not that rare. Although I still think I was moderately lucky with the Ber, I searched for the SoJ endlessly, only to have it dropped by Duriel during one of maybe 10 times I ran him. You never know
I guess mods should delete this. Again, sorry for the mix up. I thought this was the right place.
