I finished out my act 3 clear, and I think I have a good estimate of what it would take to be approximately the same defensively and offensively as before the patch (assuming doubling my crit rate to 80% is not possible):
double my HP (20k to 40k)
triple my LoH (400 to 1200)
increase my damage by 50%
get 3 perfect 10 ap-on-crit items
It wouldn't be quite as good still, mostly because AP would stop wormhole spam, but it could stand and tank the stuff that it could before, with those stats. Some fights would still be slower though.
Particularly terrible was the cydea fight. Prior to patch I could kill her before she spawned spiders. This time through she spawned spiders three times, because it was impossible to get her to hold still. I spent all my time chasing her around instead of DPSing.
Whoa...is that increasing your damage to above 50k? That's absurd. What a dumb nerf...I think I'm going to try Meteor once I get home.
I guess we can hope that some other builds get so off the chain that they restore WW in a hotfix...
27k dps, 26k HP, 45cc, 140cd, 750ar, 3290armor (both unbuffed), 386 LoH, 27 AoC, 103 max arcane after pris armor
Had little issues clearing act3 heart of sin, 4-player pub game.
Biggest issue was LoH at times and was also unable to face tank Azmodan. Used to be able to tank in 3 pools and take the big fireball to the face. Died and got rezed and was able to deal with it though, just have to tele/reposition more and leave for the 2-3 pools. Will test with more LoH.
Normal battles I just needed to make sure I spread out my WW's a bit though and single enemy was always a bit dicey on things anyway, so, I'll deal with it fine I suppose.
....wand market with Socket, LoH, AoC and Max Arcane....not a pretty sight right now...
I replaced WW with Meteor Star Pact and CM build is still working perfectly - was able to perma lock elites in A3 and clear content as fast as before the patch. My build: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/r...7/hero/9499431
No, before the patch in place of astral presence I had blur.
Frankly speaking i tried WW build an hour ago, and it still works perfectly (with astral presence). Was able to perma stun and clean content fast in A3, so an old CM build still works (I have 51% crit chance).
Last night I switched:
1. Explosive Blast (chain reaction) for Meteor (Molten)
2. Energy Twister (WW) for Energy Twister (Gale)
3. Teleport (Wormhole) for Teleport (Fracture)
It was working really well for me. In some moments, it was outperforming the standard WW build we all loved in this thread. Gonna try Meteor (comet) tonight to get a synergy going with Cold Blooded and see if it helps to slow them down.
I haven't seen anyone anywhere talking about using the other Energy Twisters. Sure it's not standing in place, but I just keep spamming it and theres always at least one or two on my target + the drifting around hits dispersed trash.

Only upgrade I had to do was going from 10 AP on Crit to 20 Ap on Crit. Now I can pretty much roflstomp stuff with WW.
52,5% CC is the key for me I think.
37% CC, still working fine in act 3, provided that I am in my party.
So assuming that price is not really an option, would you still go with ww/explosive blast? my wiz recently made me a lot of gold and I want to reinvest it in her. My gear was good enough to solo act 3 pre patch, but not really anymore.
