People relied on NT too much. Now that it was nerfed, people are just throwing up their hands. What they don't see is how good skills like Frost Arrow are, Spray of Teeth, Lightning Bolts, all very unique skills. Impale is a perfectly solid build. If you can kite and aim, it does lots of damage. Critical Mass and WW builds are obviously superior, but they require an obscene amount of capital to get solid builds going. Crit gear is super expensive.
So, if you don't want DH, then WD also works. Zombie Bears is a solid skill. Monks are just left in the dust, which is disappointing because my monk is my favorite character. Monks don't have anything super-amazing to exploit, nothing like Critical Mass or WW/Into The Fray. It's annoying.
I feel like a leecher now. Today I was actually asked to leave a game by a barb. Really sad.
If another class is out-dpsing you, the only reason is because you are out-geared. A Dh will always out-damage a similarly geared character of any other class. I've yet to meet anyone that has more dps than me that isn't a demon hunter.
When you spend half your time running away, kinda cuts down on your damage rate.
I wouldn't say it is on the level with critical mass or ww, but high crit cyclone builds for monks are pretty reasonable. I wouldn't say they're any worse than demon hunters - although the gear threshold is certainly higher.
If you play in public games of course everybody is going to be worse than you.
That doesn't mean DH out-damage other classes, though. Nothing can compete with barbs right now for damage output. Nothing.
Switched main from 100 million Barbarian to fresh DH and invested around 2 million in gear. Result 35k dps and with sharpshooter max 73k. Killing white mobs before they see me in act2 and elites are no problem either. 3 times more efficient than barbarian ever will be. It takes just some kiting and timing with smoke screen, but your basically invulnerable as long you have discipline left (that isn't really an issue with a bit disc gear and correct skills).
Even if DH can do some more damage than a barb, sprint makes barb farming way way faster. Not that the DH can do more damage. Even with more DPS on the character screen, run like the wind simply deals ridiculous damage while proccing tons of life on hit and fury on crit.
Trying to helps some friends who hit 60 with a DH out I keep wondering if I should tell them to just ignore HP/resist and go full class cannon or actually try to survive a hit. I have a friend who tries to be able to survive a single hit and he have been stuck farming act 1 for a very long time now even with gear worth quite a few millions (though probably not more than 10).
/shrug. In my speed build i can move faster and clear faster than a barbarian.
Nats set gives me 3 disc/second.
Lets say i run vault with tumble and tactical advantage. That means if i vault, run for 2 seconds, vault, and run for another 2 seconds, I've expended (8+4) = 12 discipline over 4 seconds, which equates to (12/4) = 3 discipline spent per second. But as previously stated, i regenerate 3 discipline per second, which means i can vault around the map and keep tactical advantage on permanently with a net cost of 0 discipline. This is well over 200% movement speed that i can keep up indefinitely because it costs me no resources
I'll reiterate - i don't think we are worse than any other class. If you are being outplayed by the barb, that just means his gear is better than yours. If you have similar or comparable gear, you WILL out dps any other class.
Hmm keeping vault up at a net cost of zero disc is interesting, though you still have the problem of generating discpline between fights, while a barb generates fury and life just by sprinting through the packs.
Also, as a DH can you really get through monsters without them killing you sooner or later? If you can post a video of a farm session that would be interesting to watch to do a proper comparison.
