I understand your frustration digital and only you truly know what you will enjoy and no advice can change a personal feeling about a game. I know many that are doing the same as you but instead of quitting they are just taking a break and waiting to see what pans out in the next few patches or even the next xpac. D2 was not great till LOD and d3 could very well be the same thing.
I have started looking at other avenues, like HC and leveling other classes, in the game while giving my main class and furtherest along a bit of a break since the ultimate gear is obscenely difficult to acquire(find or purchase) but I am in a different place since I killed inferno diablo.
Good luck in whatever you decide and honestly if you do plan on taking a break take your gold and buy the best thing you can with it and hold it in your stash. Gold is constantly devaluing but gear is holding value so it is like keeping cash in your bed or real life gold in your basement.
Sorry I went to bed after I posted this last night -- I still can't stay away from the forums I guess. A few follow-up points:
1 - I meant I have almost 250% MF. Yeah, weeks of farming, not much. I did find a 900 dps 1 hand crossbow with dexterity. I have listed it several times on the GAH for 25k, 20k, 15k... NADA. Even the semi-decent items I find are not selling.
2 - I have tried tons of different builds. Any Act 2 Inferno with either invulnerable minions or vortex, I get raped. It's not challenging, it's just cheap.
3 - I guess a "break" is probably in order. I think I am just so dissappointed, like many out there, where this could have been the best ARPG ever but it's turned into nothing but a joke. More frustrating that Blizzard won't acknowledge the real issue: Items as a whole.
4 - As others have mentioned, I can faceroll Act I Inferno all with gear I have found but after farming for weeks and not finding anything without sacrificing GF or RA, it's killing me in Act 2 packs. So that is why I gave up and went to the GAH to buy. ANY upgrade is at least 2-5 million on the low end. THat is ALL my gold for one measly upgrade = No thanks.
With that much MF if you ever want to mf bot for me in act2 just add me in game. I can faceroll act2 and pull a mf bot quite easily can't say you still won't be disappointed seeing what drops in act2 because I know I am constantly.
How have you been farming Act 1 for weeks and only have 3m gold? You make 400k per act 1 run or so just in gold drops. So you did act 1, what, 7-8 times?
If I start from before LK and run to butcher, I usually net 350-400k with probably 100% total GF from NV/gear. I only find an Ah worthy item drop maybe once 1 every 2-3 runs. When I run act 3, I never make any money because of deaths, but I find an AH worthy item usually at least 1 per (100k-2m average).
Sometimes I'm just tired or not in the mood to be paying total attention for Act 3 so i run Act 1 instead., but I'm pretty sure that Act 3 has been more profitable overall for me, even though I'm definitely in the whole gold drop vs repairs/potions speaking.
Zaanus = I have all stash slots unlocked. And I wasted a ton on that STUPID Staff of Herding (Hellish) - Whimsyshire has garbage drops and what a waste of so much gold.
And yeah, I thought I just had bad luck but yeah, I usually get nothing but garbage. That is why it's beyond old. I thought I was alone but I found another person that literally had 25 ilvl 63 items he saved up to identify all at once and not ONE was good for him or any other class.
digitalforce, add me to that list. One drop ever past mid-NM that I could equip and it's sub-par, really. Never found an item that sold for more than 50k.
I'll say this, several times I've spent all my gold on upgrading 1 item slot. If I could spend 2-3 million and pull a solid upgrade for 1k damage or 3k hp or 50 AR i'd jump on it. You make the money back in terms of better character performance over time anyways (fewer deaths, faster killing, harder difficulties taken).
Digital, if you want to keep playing, I can shoot you a few pieces of gear. PM me what your belt and chest piece look like, and your btag. I craft hundreds of those pieces, and frequently break down stuff that is usable by 90% of the population, but is not worth wasting one of my auction slots. (only >750k items on auction). I've thrown some stuff to a couple other people on here, and if it's something someone in the community can use, they're welcome to it. I don't need my one essence that badly.
