    Thumbs down A Fond Farewell

Well peeps, I've been an active user on the site for almost a year. I know that some of you have been on way longer. Regardless, it's been quite a trip. I look back to the exciting times before the game launch. It was a lot of fun wasn't it?

I have been farming Act 1 of Inferno for weeks with nothing special dropping at all. I keep trying Act 2 with different builds and I kept raped by most champion/elite packs with frustration overtaking fun. I FINALLY gave in and went to the GAH with my 3 million of self-earned gold. (I WILL NOT contribute to the money-grubbing RMAH) -- I was shocked that most upgrades were 2 to 20+ million. Absolutely insane.

I had high hopes for this game but Blizzard has proven they only care about nerfs and making money. Sad that the items will always be screwed over to their absolute stubbornness of greed and not offering an offline mode. Many people are jumping ship and Blizzard has proven they just don't care about the real issues. They talk of PVP but everyone knows that will be a complete disaster as things are nerfed to try to balance PVE vs PVP. Sad but true.

And no, you can't have my gold

You should have went to the GAH earlier when prices were lower. Not using the AH is like not watching the stock market as a stockbroker. A stockbroker can't possibly talk to every single stockholder one-on-one -- just like you can't reach out and trade to every Diablo player. But alas, some sort of videogame code of honor prevented you, and that's your decision.

As far as drops, well, I guess the game's random number generator did not favor you, or you weren't killing quick enough, or your MF was too low, and definitely because you didn't/couldn't progress into Act 2.

    Adios.

I respect your comments Storms but a few details:

1 - I would farm Act I Inferno for hours with 5 stacks of NV resulting in almost 250% gold find. 99% of the stuff I got was garbage, even for other classes.

2 - Buying all my items in an ARPG is kinda like going to the casino and just buying the winning hand. Yeah, you get something out of it but the whole thrill of items dropping (like every other ARPG to date), is gone.

3 - EVERY ARPG I have played, I love farming. I always get some sort of fun or cool item even if it takes a few hours. I've been farming Inferno for weeks and it's mind numbing. Another example: Going to a casino and never winning.

I already have 1 million of my own, no need for yours

I really think asking for some help with a build would have yielded in easier/better farming / progression?

    Bye (for now?)

Wait, 250%gold find? Magic Find is what you need, I'm going to assume you meant 250% magic find, in which case you should be able to get a decent high-dps magic item which sell for a lot.

In diablo, indeed it is a thrill if a Zod rune drops, or you find an SoJ. But you can still have your thrill and supplement it with the gold AH. I'm not talking RMAH -- I haven't touched the RMAH either. I'd buy a few upgrades for gold, then go out and farm. I felt a thrill when I found my first 1000dps magic item, a spear, that sold for 3.2 million. Seeing that number under the "completed" tab is a thrill in itself, and it makes you feel like a businessman! I could still feel excited after a few rus and something dropped. Again, the AH is only a supplement, or a bonus, depending on how one looks at it.

You're bound to find something, eventually. I've found 3 legendaries so far, one of which was a terrible level 26 one. In fact, all were terrible, but that will soon change. If encouragement is of any use, I'd encourage you to stick around and farm a little more waiting for patch 1.4 and then legendary changes. If you're a ranged class this is relatively more simple to farm than a melee class (I made a Monk and Barb, then rerolled my barb into a DH to assit in MFing). Playing wit a group of friends also helps a lot, especially if you're over vent/skype/mumble (in-game chat can get very monotonous). Playing in public games can also be good, granted you get semi-competent teammates.

I haven't made a post like this because I think back to all the times I quit D2 only to come back 5 months later and play another few dozen hours. No idea if that will be the case again, but we shall see.

    @Digital

Relax, i see alot of you guys are so pent up in farming, take a breather play other classes twinked them with 3k-5k buys.
You will play differently and the experience will be different.

And naturally cos of the gear i got Zero MF. Holding 1.6mil now.
Self found a tasker n teo and was doing NM Rakkis couple of hours ago found a Str Vit Saffron Wrap.

Took a DH, Soloed everything other than the DH's NM Rakanoth which i didnt pass the gear check, then just happened a friend came along completed hell with 9k + dps. now in Inferno act 2 wall.

Monks with 8k++ dps in inferno act 1.

Been lazy went sleeping , my WD is in act 3 NM with 1.1k dps.

Get all 5 to lvl 60, dun twinked them so when If you FARM there will be a good chance of an upgrade for one of them at least.

    my 2 cents

    Re: A Fond Farewell

As has been previously said you may need to do a few things.

    1) Look up builds based on your item level. Not every build is going to work for you because it may rely on certain weapon types, gear orientation etc

    2) You need to shop on the ah at the right time. The right time is the busiest time. This is when the price of things are lower. If you can't see multiple items in the range you are looking for between 1d and 1d11h then you need to wait for a busier time (unless you know the price of what you are looking for and manage to snap up a bargain

    3) You need to MF. I cant say how important this is. Getting 2-5 rares per pack can turn 1 week of non-mf farming into 3-4 weeks of mf farming. Its worth the 10 seconds it takes to right click your items, trust me.

    4) What class are you? Maybe you need more LOH, armour and resistances. Maybe you need to work on your kiting. Maybe you need the right build.

    Re: A Fond Farewell

    1) I have done all the build research that you reasonably can without being a theorycrafter myself and I am sure digital has too from some of his other posts in threads I followed

    2) I don't want to shop on the AH ever. It should suppliment me on a slot or two that I just have terrible luck with AT MOST. Buying=boring, finding=fun.

    3) I have trouble with acts in inferno as it is, no room stat wise for mf gear unless my gear gets way better...but I can't find that gear to begin with

    4) I have 2 in Inferno and know the right stats/builds/strats. I farm like most would but probably slower than some on these forums based on their stated experience. That speed is purely due to gear. I don't have it, and if you don't have it, you can't get more. Killing fast with m/f requires gear that I can't get from farming. I don't want to use the AH because it completely ruins the point of an item-hunt game. I DO use the AH because I also don't like being brick walled and the gold isn't doing anything else for me. Every time I buy from the AH, a piece of my Diablo gaming soul dies.

Based on his previous posts, I'm pretty sure digital would agree with my experience here.
