Pure Melee Sin Viable?

Just started up D2 again and I've always wanted to try the melee sin..

for single player, untwinked, through hell. Is this viable? I was thinking of running Claws of Thunder with pheonix strike maxed.

Ive done it. But its not the best build ever.. Doable but not recommended imo. (Im not pro with assa either)

Yes it's possible, if you have the patience. I've done it on HC but it took a lot of farming to get enough resists and DR for hell, because you need to use BoS instead of Fade unless you got some badass claws..

SM is mandatory imo, at least lvl 18..

What is all this possible but not recommended talk? Depending on the build he wants to do its fully viable. If he was considering a tiger strike/dragon claw build then yes it would be difficult, but he says hes thinking about a phoenix strike with Claws of thunder. A phoenix striker if used correctly can put out substantial damage through a careful combination of releasing the Phoenix strike charges. The Ice charge to slow everything down, and then the meteor or lightning charges to unlease the damage. There are a couple of strategy guides in the Assasin forum that you should probably take a look at if you are fully considering this type of setup.

Considering melee builds that doesn't depend on the claws, a kicksin is dirt cheap to make viable. The only mandatory thing is good boots and crushing blow (wich conveniently happens to be combined in upped gore riders). However since th OP talks about claws it might not be what's been looked for.

Doable but not recommended.

Meaning it will take alot of work for results. Im not saying to only make cookie-cutters, but (at least for me) its much more likely to have fun with a "hell viable" build then be forced to hard farming. To even be able to have a shot at Hell diff.
