Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction
Diablo 3
I've followed Diablo 2 since the first video they released up until release day. I'll attempt to keep this as simple as possible and allow you to judge for yourselves. I seriously feel after all this that Blizzard is trying to question my and everyone's intelligence. Did you seriously think we would all forget?
I'll start with one of the first videos ever about Diablo 2:

Be sure to watch in High Quality.

Right off the bat, walking. Diablo 1 was all about walking slowly into the mouth of Hell. The original team that worked on Diablo 2 had it right, Diablo is about walking. I don't know what happened with the development process, but I guess walking didn't appeal to the masses, so Blizzard sold out and added running.
Also, notice how the stamina bar looks different. And what are those buttons next to the left and right mouse button skills? Did they really dumb down the game that much from alpha to release?

Notice how there is not Atma or Geglash in the tavern. These characters were clearly added much later in development to get cheap sympathy and laughs. Seriously, your kid wanders down into a sewer and dies? What terrible story telling. And Geglash obviously adds nothing to the story and was just tacked on to appeal to the frat party boys.

Look at that glowing Paladin. That's how auras should look.

Listen to those attack animations. They aren't even in the game anymore. Also notice the blood animation on the ground. It is much grittier than how Diablo 2 launched. They really toned down the violence so more kids could buy the game.

What is that skill the Paladin is using? Did they cut whole skills from the game? Way to ruin build diversity, Blizzard.

Shrines used to not tell you what they did. It clearly says "Fascinating Shrine" when he mouses over the shrine, and only after clicking it does it reveal its true property, a Combat Shrine. What gives, Blizz? Think you player base is too dumb to handle that? It ruins the sense of wonder and exploration.

Sanctuary used to have a different logo, and was a casted spell that cost mana. I guess they though it was too complicated and wanted to dumb down Diablo 2 so all you have to do is spam left mouse click.
These are just some of the problems with Diablo 2, tons of which you didn't even bother responding to, yet you people will always have a backup excuse for everything. How about some apologies from the developers for releasing a broken beta to the public that you got our money with due to the overhype of the Diablo name and some in-game compensation to the players instead of every single patch having a laundry list full of nerfs?
I'll summarize:
"Someone has a different opinion from mine. They must be an idiot."
Hardly, I have a decent number of issues with the game, and have posted/discussed them on and off of these forums. I'm not trying to single you out, truth be told, the issues laid you in the review you linked, and later in your further posts here were more articulate and thought out than most here. My gripe with the complaints in general is that I think the majority of them regarding D3 are a direct result of the rose colored glasses people are wearing regarding D2.
D3 has been out for a grand total of 2 months. D2 had been out for what, 10 or 11 years? When I compare the two (which again, I think tends to be the basis for most of the D3-related complaints), I think D3 is better in just about every aspect.
No endgame? I've been playing quite a bit (definitely not as much as some of the serious gamers, but a pretty decent amount), play exclusively hardcore, and I'm not past act 1 Inferno. In fact, only a handful of people have beaten Inferno on hardcore. That may not be a permanent end-game solution, but it's a good starting point.
Not enough powerful/unique items? The game is 2 months old, I don't think I'd be the only one upset if the economy was flooded with tons of high end loot 2 months in. Furthermore, virtually every character in D2 wearing some combo of the same 25 uniques (shak0z or bust) was one of the lamer parts of D2. Diablo is largely about items, so making only a handful of legendaries 'the best' minimizes the appeal of nice rares.
Auction house gripes? Beats the heck out of D2's ingame trading system or the Funny Gold website.
The game is far from perfect, but so was D2 when it came out. They made tons of patches/improvements and an expansion for that. Given that a similar amount of improvement will likely be made to D3, I find the endless complaints and non-constructive criticism pretty tedious and unhelpful.
So sorry for singling you out, as I said you posts on it are actually much less lame than the majority, my comment was directed as the issue as a whole, not so much at your post specifically.
Holy moly that was a big post. hmm I forgot what I was going to say but I guess everyone has there own thoughts and feelings about diablo 3. For me I feel Diablo 3 is a good game and im sure Blizzard will make it even better with patches and yet there will always be whiners and qqer's.
hmm lets see there were 3 Warcrafts before World of Warcraft came out and now there are 3 Diablos so that does kinda seem like a logical reasoning. Now the only title that does not have a 3 behind it yet is Starcraft. So Titan could be base off of the starcraft world as well.
Its obvious titan will be a combination of Starcraft, warcraft universe, and diablo universe thrown together.
Diablo has been secretly consorting with an ancient evil titan, who created the xel'naga (who had a lot to do with the zerg and protoss), however the titan doesn't realise that diablo has had Leah's human sexuality infused deeper within him than what was thought possible, resulting in a new lesbian diablo wanting to capture Sarah Kerrigan, to create a new ultimate legion diablo, trap her soul in the black soul stone, and then absorb it to become super-mega-ultra psychic charged diablo.
Wondering where Adria went to at the end of A3? She went looking for Kerrigan of course.
The titan wants to wipe out the world of warcraft because, it raged when he discovered the silly panda's, who were strangely similar to the character within Kung-Fu Panda he had seen on his magical universal movie bittorrent program, and that his magical tree system that he had put so much effort into had been so decimated, he just wanted to destroy everything and start from scratch.

I will really be dissappointed if one day it comes to light that D3 was just put out as a beta for the RMAH. Its really hard to tell these days whether a company cares at all about anything other than the money they are making now and what they can make in the future. I have played alot of D3 so far, and even though I like it alot, I cant help but think it could have been better. Its hard to tell if they cared at all about the history of the game, and instead used a big name to sell alot of copies to use it as a really big beta test, as previously mentioned. I work for a large corporation, so I see the things they do everyday to make more money. Just like Ozzy said: "Treating people just like pawns in chess.....".
